    Hi,

    I am having an issue with two Trojans that keep popping up on my computer. I have McAfee security, and it keeps telling me that it has detected a Trojan and that I should restart my computer to free up the file to be deleted. If I do not restart immediately, my firewall is turned off. My Windows firewall service is also missing. When I run a full scan, it shows two infected items that it is unable to delete:

    C:\Windows\assembly\GAC_64\Desktop.ini
    C:\Windows\assembly\GAC_32\Desktop.ini

    Both are ZeroAccess Trojans.

    The problem started when I tried to download a program I needed for my schoolwork. I already uninstalled the program since it was clearly the source, but that didn't help.

    I have tried following http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=139681, but I am still having the same problem.

    I have attached the logs created by the anti-malware programs in the above thread.

    Thanks for any help you can give me.

    Thanks for the quick response! I assume I have to download the program on a clean computer, so I will do that tomorrow. In the meantime, can I still log on to websites like banking websites and Facebook? I am just afraid it might be taking my account information whenever I log on somewhere. Thanks!

    I'm sorry, but you did not follow the instructions given for running FRST. You MUST run it from the Recovery Environment or it will not work properly. Notice the error message in the log

    Download Combofix to your desktop. Do NOT run it by double clicking it.

    Now we need to use ComboFix by sUBs

    • Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
      • If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    • Also make sure you have shut down all protection software (antivirus, antispyware...etc) or they may get in the way of allowing ComboFix to run properly.
    • If ComboFix tells you it needs to update to a new version, make sure you allow it to update.
    • Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below quote box. Ensure you scroll down to select ALL the lines:
    Code:
    KILLALL::

    Fcopy::
    C:\windows\winsxs\amd64_microsoft-windows-s..s-servicecontroller_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7600.16385_none_2b54b20ee6fa07b1\services.exe | C:\Windows\System32\services.exe
    • Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    • At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    • You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    • Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe

      http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v666/sUBs/CFScriptB-4.gif

    • Follow the prompts.
    • When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    • I will ask for this log below

    Note:

    Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

    If after running Combofix you discover none of your programs will open up, and you recieve the following error: "Illegal operation attempted on a registry key that has been marked for deletion". Then the answer is to REBOOT the machine, and all will be corrected.

    Now run FRST again like you did last time please and attach the log.
