Hello, just yesterday my computer went into a continuous boot cycle where every time I chose to boot normally, it would display a blue screen saying %hs is missing and needs to be re-installed. It has never done this before, and was functioning properly a few hours before the incident. I have spent the past hours since then trying to solve this problem, and so far none of the solutions I have found helped.

I have tried doing a start-up repair, system restore, and running in safe mode. I have also tried using regedit to check whether the windows file under...

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\newuser\ControlSet001\Control\SessionManager\SubSystems

... has its string like this...

    %SystemRoot%\system32\csrss.exe ObjectDirectory=\Windows SharedSection=1024,20480,768 Windows=On SubSystemType=Windows ServerDll=basesrv,1 ServerDll=winsrv:UserServerDllInitialization,3 ServerDll=consrv:ConServerDllInitialization,2 ServerDll=sxssrv,4 ProfileControl=Off MaxRequestThreads=16

... where the bolded text consrv is needed to be changed to winsrv in order for my system to boot normally again. However, none of these solutions have worked. I was looking at the forums here where other people faced a similar problem and were able to solve it...

    http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=274311&page=2

... and I was wondering if I have a similar problem.

Is there anyone out there who can help me with this problem? :D

Please do the below so that we can boot to System Recovery Options to run a scan. There will be two options to choose from. One if you do not have your Windows 7 boot DVD and another when you have your DVD.

For x32 (x86) bit systems download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to a flash drive.
For x64 bit systems download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool x64 and save it to a flash drive.

Plug the flashdrive into the infected PC.

Option1: Enter System Recovery Options from the Advanced Boot Options:

    • Restart the computer.
    • As soon as the BIOS is loaded begin tapping the F8 key until Advanced Boot Options appears.
    • Use the arrow keys to select the Repair your computer menu item.
    • Select US as the keyboard language settings, and then click Next.
    • Select the operating system you want to repair, and then click Next.
    • Select your user account an click Next.

Option2: Enter System Recovery Options by using Windows installation disc:

    • Insert the installation disc.
    • Restart your computer.
    • If prompted, press any key to start Windows from the installation disc. If your computer is not configured to start from a CD or DVD, check your BIOS settings.
    • Click Repair your computer.
    • Select US as the keyboard language settings, and then click Next.
    • Select the operating system you want to repair, and then click Next.
    • Select your user account and click Next.

On the System Recovery Options menu you will get the following options:
    • Select Command Prompt
    • In the command window type in notepad and press Enter.
    • The notepad opens. Under File menu select Open.
    • Select "Computer" and find your flash drive letter and close the notepad.
    • In the command window type e:\frst.exe (for x64 bit version type e:\frst64) and press Enter
Note: Replace letter e with the drive letter of your flash drive.
    • The tool will start to run.
    • When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
    • Press Scan button.
    • It will make a log (FRST.txt) on the flash drive. Please attach this file to your next reply. (See: How to attach)

Thanks for answering my call for help! :D

However, I am sorry because I have just left the country and won't be able to access my computer after 3 weeks. I apologize again, I should have asked for help after I got back from vacation. I hope you will still help me till then? :D

I am currently using my laptop, thank you!

You may need to do a repair install. The report indicates a couple of missing files.

I have tried doing a repair install through start-up repair but it says it cannot repair my computer automatically. I do not know what else to do :(

Hello, I just decided to do a clean reinstall of my operating system. I just transferred important files from my computer to my hard drive by using notepad to access my folders via the command prompt in system repair. Thank you for the help :D

I've read the threads on the malware section of this forum, and I will make sure to follow the advice given by you guys to prevent myself from being infected by malware.
