These two things {Conduit search and MyPC backup} have appeared on my computer recently. I have noticed a serious reduction in speed. I have tried to uninstall them but with no success. Can you please help? Many thanks in advance. David Barrett.

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Please read ALL of this message including the notes before doing anything.

Please follow the instructions in the below link:

READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide

and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.
    • **** If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going. ****
    • Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not. MGtools will frequently run even when all other tools will not.

    • After completing the READ & RUN ME and attaching your logs, make sure that you tell us what problems still remain ( if any still do )!
    Helpful Notes:

    1. If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode, you can run the steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:
    2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools and the manual update Malwarebytes ( links are given in the READ & RUN ME) onto another PC and then burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.
    3. If you cannot seem to login to an infected user account, try using a different user account (if you have one) in either normal or safe boot mode and running only RogueKiller and Malwarebytes while logged into this other user account. Then reboot and see if you can log into the problem user account. If you can then run the rest of the READ & RUN ME FIRST instructions on the infected account.
    4. To avoid additional delay in getting a response, it is strongly advised that after completing the READ & RUN ME you also read this sticky:
Any additional post is a bump which will add more delay. Once you attach the logs, your thread will be in the work queue and as stated our system works the oldest threads FIRST.

I know this is wrong, but I am completely lost. I've run two files [HitmamPro & Malware-AntiMalware] as administrator and have output files on desktop. Roguekiller does not have a "run as administrator" option? TDSSKiller comes up with "Ready to scan"; no file save option. MGTools gives me error 403! You asked me to re-boot and now I can't get back to screen I was working from. The number of "Download" buttons and adverts that appear make things extremely difficult when I am concerned not to do the wrong thing and make matters worse. Can you help please?

Great. You can attach those then please.

When you right click the executable, you should be given the option to run as admin. If not, just double click it! :)

Well have you indeed scanned with it yet? :confused

When you try to download it or when you try to run it? Please elaborate.
Try working in safe mode with networking if normal mode is proving to be problematic for you.

    08.01-25/02/2014 in England:
Repeat No option to run RogueKiller as administrator. Have now scanned with TDSSKiller and get "No Threats Found" with report details and details from the processed 449 objects which show when I put tick in box to show SCAN results; shows everything OK. Can find no way to save these files so I send you a snip of both. MGTools: as soon as I click on the blue MGTools I get a new tab with '403 Forbidden' in the tab description. Thanks in advance for your help.

Then please just double click it to run as I already requested. How does that work for you?
Please use a different browser or even a seperate computer to get this downloaded and onto your machine to run. It's going to produce the most important set of logs for me.

Double clicked to run roguekiller. New tab with 403 Forbidden and www.adlice.com/softs/roguekiller.exe in address bar.
Trying to run MGTools in Firefox. Clicked on it and got same 403 Forbidden on new tag, with forums.majorgeeks.com/chaslang. On Internet Explorer got "Website declined to show this page; and HTTP403 forbidden on the tab."
Finally obtained MGTools.exe from notebook computer via USB stick and ran it to produce attached file. Thanks again for your help in this.

    Uninstall this garbage:

    • iLivid
    • Reimage Repair

Re run Hitman, have it delete all that it finds. Also, have it fix this unless you are deliberately set up to use a proxy:

    Delete these:

    • C:\Users\DavidB\AppData\Roaming\Babylon
    • C:\Users\DavidB\AppData\Roaming\ParetoLogic
    • C:\Windows\Tasks\ErrorEND.job

http://imageshack.us/a/img841/7292/thisisujrt.gif Please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.
    • Shut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.
    • Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista or Seven, right-mouse click it and select Run as Administrator.
    • The tool will open and start scanning your system.
    • Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications.
    • On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.
    • Attach JRT.txt to your next message.

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. (Right click and run as admin if using Vista, Windows7 or Win8) Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this.

Let me know of any problems you may have encountered with the above instructions and also let me know how things are running now!

I have uninstalled both iLivid and Reimage Repair.
Ran HitmanPro30 [day trial ver.] and attach log file HitmanPro_20140303_0855.log.
I have deleted C:\Users\DavidB\AppData\Roaming\Babylon and .....\ParetoLogic, also C:\Windows\Tasks|ErrorEND.job. I have run the Junkware removal tool and attach JRT.txt file. I also attach C:\MGlogs.zip.
Things now: I've just opened one or two programs including my gmail and they seem to be working well and more quickly. However I will need to work with them more to be sure of a real improvement. But thank you for your help so far.
PS: I am now getting a message Malware Anti-Malware etc. is now 8 days out of date... Do I need to do anything about this message? Thanks.

Hitman still shows all these that you need to delete:

    and this:

Is the trial over or something? If so let me know.

Re: Kestrel13! & Conduit search and MyPC backup

I've logged in as scrumhalf and will now attach the latest HitmanPro log. I've looked at the log and it shows 'No threats found'. The log is HitmanPro_20140306_1458.log; I pressed Next to remove results and got messages 'delete failed' on 52 cookies and 2 potentially unwanted programs [Babylon].
Assuming this account [scrumhalf] works I would prefer to carry on with it; provided it is associated with my new email [davidbarrett500@gmail.com].
Thanks to you both for your help.
PS: I logged into scrumhalf last night just before midnight but thought it best to wait until this morning to answer when fully awake. Snip attached of log-in screen.

You still have these showing in your latest Hitman log. They need removing. Let me know how you get on.

I've searched for the two [Babylon] programs in both Control panel[Uninstall a program] and internet explorer. I can't find them: search says in both "No items match your search". Could they be hiding somehow?

  15. Kestrel13!

Kestrel13! Super Malware Fighter - Major Dilemma Staff Member

You are meant to be using Hitman to delete them! :)

  16. scrumhalf

    scrumhalf Private E-2

I have used HitmanPro as you instructed. I have now re-run with the results as per attached files. This time the scan found the two Babylon programs and 51 cookies which the log shows as "failed to delete". I have attached snips of the screen to show these results.
I only looked for the two programs and files because Hitman said they were they but I couldn't find them. If I've done something wrong please tell me how to correct it. Thanks.

Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixME.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.

Make sure that you tell me if you receive a success message about adding the above
to the registry. If you do not get a success message, it definitely did not work.

Now rescan with Hitman again, and attach the fresh log please.

They are still there. Are you comfortable going into the Windows Registry and deleting those keys yourself? Let me know.

Yes, I've worked with the Windows Registry before. If you tell me what to delete I'll be able to delete them. Thanks.

Navigate to and delete the below bold keys:

    • HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\secman.OutlookSecurityManager.1
    • HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\secman.OutlookSecurityManager

As requested I have found and permanently deleted from the registry the two files, secman.OutlookSecurityManager & secman.OutlookSecurityManager.1
    I wait further instructions. Thanks.

    Explain how things are running.

  24. scrumhalf

A lot better. I've got 7 tabs open in google and another program running; the change between tabs is now much better with little or no buffering time.
I try to make sure that I don't download things I haven't asked for and am now using a protection software called F-secure which I understand is good. Is there anything else you would recommend that I do to avoid getting contaminated again? Thanks for your help and patience.

You are most welcome. :) My final steps will answer most of the questions you have asked.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware.
    2. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others) and running MGclean.bat did not remove them, you can delete these files now.
    3. Renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it in step 4 of the READ & RUN ME.
    4. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis. If you don't see it or it will not uninstall, don't worry about it. Just move on to the next step.
    5. If running Vista, Win 7 or Win 8, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    6. Now goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click ( if running Vista, Win7, or Win 8 Right Click and Run As Administrator ) on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    7. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.

    8. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

  26. scrumhalf

    scrumhalf Private E-2

I have done what I can of the steps 1 to 8. But couldn't do much of it!
    1. Tried a quick scan: got 'Malwarebytes Anti-Malware has stopped working.'
    2. n/a
    3. n/a
    4. Couldn't find Hijack This.
    5. Couldn't find C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file.
    6. MGclean.bat file not found.
    7. Deleted all from desktop.
    8. Am now working through link to protect from malware.

Thanks again for your help and patience.

Then uninstall it using Revo Uninstaller and then reinstall and rescan. If you still have the same thing happen then I suggest that you post in the software forum about it. :)

    You are most welcome.

I've now re-installed the free version of Malwarebyte Anti-Malware and run a quick scan. Found only one file which it then quarantined and deleted successfully. [safari setup.exe(PUP.Optional.BundleInstaller.A)]
Also I am now being asked to log-on to Paltalk. Is it part of the Safari installation? For now I have just closed it with the X button.
    PS: I installed Safari yesterday.
