I apologize in advance, I cannot access most of the posts on here, every time I click one, it redirects me to an ad page for some fake product.
I recently put in a new SSD and I haven't done anything but download the drivers for my laptop, and GPUz, along with steam.
I am having horrible problems with pop-ps that I cannot control.
I have tried all the scans, uninstalls, and boot-time scans.
Nothing has helped. I am afraid it is worse than i know.
I finally got to this page and i can post! so I'm happy :)

    Thank you in advance.

Welcome to the Malware Removal forum. :)

Please read ALL of this message including the notes before doing anything.

Please follow the instructions in the below link:

READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide

and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.
    • **** If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going. ****
    • Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not. MGtools will frequently run even when all other tools will not.

    • After completing the READ & RUN ME and attaching your logs, make sure that you tell us what problems still remain ( if any still do )!
    Helpful Notes:

    1. If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode, you can run the steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:
    2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools and the manual update Malwarebytes ( links are given in the READ & RUN ME) onto another PC and then burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.
    3. If you cannot seem to login to an infected user account, try using a different user account (if you have one) in either normal or safe boot mode and running only RogueKiller and Malwarebytes while logged into this other user account. Then reboot and see if you can log into the problem user account. If you can then run the rest of the READ & RUN ME FIRST instructions on the infected account.
    4. To avoid additional delay in getting a response, it is strongly advised that after completing the READ & RUN ME you also read this sticky:
Any additional post is a bump which will add more delay. Once you attach the logs, your thread will be in the work queue and as stated our system works the oldest threads FIRST.

Re run Hitman and have it remove all it finds.

    http://img805.imageshack.us/img805/9659/rktigzy.gif Fix items using RogueKiller.

Double-click RogueKiller.exe to run. (Vista/7/8 right-click and select Run as Administrator)
When it opens, press the Scan button
Now click the Registry tab and locate these detections:

    • [PUP] (X64) HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{5A4E3A41-FA55-4BDA-AED7-CEBE6E7BCB52} (C:\Program Files (x86)\SourceApp\bin\b84422ed9d09458bb9c8bb808a96177d64.dll) -> Found
    • [PUP] (X64) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\{A5A51D2A-505A-4D84-AFC6-E0FA87E47B8C} -> Found
    • [PUP] (X64) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\{FCE3FA8B-BA81-467C-81D8-E43C00D1BC71} -> Found

Place a checkmark next to each of these items, leave the others unchecked.
    Now press the Delete button.
When it is finished, there will be a log on your desktop called: RKreport[2].txt
Attach RKreport[2].txt to your next message. (How to attach)
    Reboot the machine.

I would like for you to re run Malware Bytes, have it fix anything if it finds it, and if so attach log showing it quaratined, please.

    Delete this:
    • C:\Program Files (x86)\globalUpdate

Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixME.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.

Make sure that you tell me if you receive a success message about adding the above
to the registry. If you do not get a success message, it definitely did not work.

http://imageshack.us/a/img841/7292/thisisujrt.gif Please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.
    • Shut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.
    • Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista or Seven, right-mouse click it and select Run as Administrator.
    • The tool will open and start scanning your system.
    • Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications.
    • On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.
    • Attach JRT.txt to your next message.

    • Run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. (Right click and run as admin if using Vista, Windows7 or Win8) Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this.
    • Let me know of any problems you may have encountered with the above instructions and also let me know how things are running!

Hi there!! My apologies. Life took me away from my computer until 2 days ago, then on top of that your thread got lost in the radar (good job I check back all the time) Reviewing your logs now. :)

Now reboot, navaigate back to where it was. Has it reappeared??

    sonofandy Private E-2

Sorry about the late response. The laptop in question is becoming too annoying to even use.
The Global Update was not there at all.

Now when I use the laptop, the Ads are gone,
but it stops every 30 seconds or so seemingly to catch up with itself
For instance, while i was typing that last sentence, Between Catch up and "With itself" It locked up and wouldn't let me type for a good 15 seconds.
that happens every 30-45 seconds, and also web pages are loading very slowly.

    Thanks so far!

I have a feeling this is due to the DellSystemDetect software. Please try the below.

Please download OTM by Old Timer and save it to your Desktop.
    • Run OTM.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, Win7 or Win8, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).
    • Copy the lines from the below codebox to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C
(or, after highlighting, right-click and choose Copy): Do not include the word Code: which is just a title line of
      the code box
    Code:
    :Processes
    explorer.exe

    :Services
    gupdate
    gupdatem

    :Files
    C:\Windows\tasks\GoogleUpdateTaskMachineCore.job
    C:\Windows\tasks\GoogleUpdateTaskMachineUA.job
    C:\Windows\system32\tasks\GoogleUpdateTaskMachineCore
    C:\Windows\system32\tasks\GoogleUpdateTaskMachineUA

    :Reg
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
    "DellSystemDetect"=-
    [HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-3021002152-4210864349-3517516231-1000\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\run]
    "DellSystemDetect"=-
    :Commands
    [purity]
    [EmptyTemp]
    [start explorer]

    [Reboot]
    • Return to OTM, right click in the Paste List of Files/Folders to Move window (under the yellow bar
      ) and choose Paste.
    • Now click the large http://forums.majorgeeks.com/chaslang/images/MoveIt!.png button.
    • If OTM asks to reboot your computer, allow it to do so. The report should appear in Notepad after the reboot.
    • Close OTM.
Now navigate to the C:\_OTM\MovedFiles folder ( assuming your Windows drive is C). This is where your log will be
saved in the form of Date and Time mmddyyyy_hhmmss.log. Just look for the most recent .log file. Attach
this log file to your next message.

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, Win7 or Win8, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:
    • the C:\_OTM\MovedFiles log
    • C:\MGlogs.zip
Make sure you tell me how things are working now! If you still have a problem then uninstall Avast and reboot your PC and see if this changes anything.

so sorry to bump this once again.
Now, Avast is detecting Chrome as a threat.

  15. chaslang

chaslang MajorGeeks Admin - Master Malware Expert Staff Member

Is it detecting Chrome.exe as a threat or is it detecting something on web pages your are accessing using Chrome?

Shutdown Chrome and run Internet Explorer and see if you have the same problem with Internet Explorer.

Also please do the below so that we can boot to System Recovery Options to run a scan.

For 32-bit (x86) systems download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to a flash drive.
For 64-bit (x64) systems download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool x64 and save it to a flash drive.

Plug the flashdrive into the infected PC.

Enter System Recovery Options from the Advanced Boot Options:
    • Restart the computer.
    • As soon as the BIOS is loaded begin tapping the F8 key until Advanced Boot Options appears.
    • Use the arrow keys to select the Repair your computer menu item.
    • Select US as the keyboard language settings, and then click Next.
    • Select the operating system you want to repair, and then click Next.
    • Select your user account an click Next.

On the System Recovery Options menu you will get the following options:
    • Select Command Prompt
    • In the command window type in notepad and press Enter.
    • The notepad opens. Under File menu select Open.
    • Select "Computer" and find your flash drive letter and close the notepad.
    • In the command window type e:\frst.exe (for x64 bit version type e:\frst64) and press Enter
Note: Replace letter e with the drive letter of your flash drive.
    • The tool will start to run.
    • When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
    • Press Scan button.
    • It will make a log (FRST.txt) on the flash drive. Please attach this file to your next reply. (See: How to attach)

So are you saying that you no longer have this problem with Avast detecting chrome.exe to be a problem?

Does Chrome still run or did Avast remove it?
