What's Up With Firefox?

Suddenly I'm getting Not Responding on most page changes. CPU usage is in its normal range for this laptop so it's not that. I did a FF refresh, only reinstalling minimal addons, but still the same. Started in v53.0 and still the same in today's update to 54.0 (32 bit). It's driving me to the Edge ;)

Revert it back to the 53 version.

Make sure you disable the do not update option.

I normally go with cyberfox be cause you can unlock a lot of options and functions.

I should have described the problem more fully Eldon. Each new page gets this Not Responding message, but it clears after 10-15 seconds. FFx is also rather slow to load and get to its home page. The problem is confined to my laptop, the PC is OK, and FFx is synced across three systems of which two are usually running. Edge is fine, in fact I'm using it pro tem. As the refresh didn't change anything I'm thinking maybe I should reinstall FFx, something I've never had to do before.

It's one of the add-ons. It's OK, I know how to hunt it down.

The culprit was Bitdefender TrafficLight, which is now removed. Anyone care to recommend something functionally similar?

This should be good enough for surfing the net.

Fare warning though this will eat up a little more ram on the system. But i would rather have a little more ram wasted than getting a virus or malware.

And all so when that new virus spread around i never got it be cause of this setup.I was well protected against random pop ups.

And no more youtube ads lol

Thanks. I already have Adblock Plus and Ublock Origin. I'll take a look at some of the others.

I had a problem with TrafficLight add-on also:

I use only uBlock Origin for blocking. That is quite enough for me.

    • Works directly out of the box; absolutely no prior configuration required.

Thanks for that, I'll see how this underpowered Thinkpad copes with those. TrafficLight is fine on my i5 PC, and doesn't seem to cause any problems on a ten year old Medion we have here that's running 32 bit Win 10 Pro without issues.

With the constent updates and I agree with updating to keep safey and fresh the problem can ne 3rd party add-ons not keeping up, I tend to use Edge as not so bad but also use Nightly with no add-ons for the very reason of issues like you had, not easy to trace the culprit all the time.
