i want it to run as efficiently as possible of course, what tools should i deck out my new computer with?

Yes- I would definitely remove all the crap-ola that the PC mass marketers bloat and bog down the system with... Here's a link to a little program designed to do just what you need: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download5223.html Go to the link and read thru the list of programs that will be removed; if you have some of these, then you're off and rollin'!:D Good Luck!

thanks for the replies! i'll download those recommendations..

but now ive discovered my computer is giving me another problem, it froze a few minutes ago and then went to a blue screen saying that windows had to shut down to prevent etc.... i couldnt write it down fast enough before the screen disappeared.. but anyway, after that blue screen goes away, the screen goes black and a beeping tone started coming from the back of my tower.. not just once, it was a steady beep..

evidently, the computer did this earlier today also, because i had left the room and come back to hear my computer making that same beeping sound and the monitor was just a dark screen..

any ideas on what that problem could be?

if it matters, im running windows vista because thats what came with the computer..

OK, to get the BSOD screen to stick, do the following, much like XP. Go to Control Panel/System/Advanced System Settings/ Startup and Recovery/untick Auto Restart. At least you'll be able to post the BSOD code for further help and you'll have some ammo to fire at the people who sold it to you if needed. Good luck db cooper.

EDIT the decrapifier doesn't say Vista compatible but it may have something to do with it. Maybe just do it, remove the crap, the hard way.
