i do not know why, but when i press "´" or "~" in the keyboard, my windows 98 se with all updates makes two "´" and "~", so i can not put them over any letter, i it writes two like this "´´" "~~".
the thing is that there is a virus wich makes the computer act like this... i would never get a virus even if i do not run anti-virus... and i did search all the microsoft and symantec files and all their .exe wich they say that the virus creates, i do not have any of them.
what do you think

i should get a anti-virus, wich is the best one (i do not want norton) ? is there any anti-virus that includes a firewall ?

i just know that i saw something about a virus messing up the keyboard with the same problem, tried the removel tools from symantec but found nothing.

i can get a commercial anti-virus, what i wanted was a all-in-one tool, anything but something that goes inside the system too much, example puting files in other folders like norton that puts file in program files and lots of fonders in /windows. i want something simple that will only put files in the place i install... something that will not give me many problems with the system, people say macafee is evil...

can anyone please replay, because i feel like i need to use a anti-virus and a firewall, if no one replays i am going to try avg and zonealarm, maybe it is not the right choise for what i like (please red my previous messages! thanks)

Helllooo...

Reading your post ...I can only tell you I have had nothing but the greatest with AVG....and ZoneAlarm....and I am an OCCD...meaning fanatic
But they pretty much take care of everything for you....ZoneAlarm is too cool and is free....you can mess with lots of ports and tweaks until it is to your max....
AVG keeps up .....

Had McAfee and the rest of the world is right.....they are scary
and Arbitrary...reminds me of AOL....only they can kill you faster...
I know plenty of people with Symantic...you may consider

My money's on the AVG-ZONEALARM combo...
Sorry I could only give you what I know works...

AVG has saved my butt many many times. I refuse to put anything Symantec on my computer. I had a real bad experience with one of their products in the past.

Zone Alarm is also a great product. It does pretty much what it says it will.

 

I'm quite satisfied with AVG, and even more so with Zonealarm Pro.
If I ever purchase any AV software it will not be from Symantec or McAffee, but more likely AVG or NOD32.
