03 kia question?

have a 2003 kia sedona replaced headlight, light works fine but now the air bag warning light came on that same day. I did nothing else to the vehicle but the light. Would there be a connection there that would cause the AB warning or Is there something wrong with the AB ? I'm usually a truck person but times are tight and it was the closes thing I could afford for what I needed.

BTW Would disconnecting the battery cable to clear the memory be advisable?

 

Hi BT. I'm a Ford tech, but I may be able to help. There may be wiring and connectors for the SRS in the area of the headlamp. Most crash sensors are at the front of the car, maybe you inadvertently disconnected one. That means the SRS lamp would've come on right away. You could take it to the shop and have them scan the code, or you can disconnect the battery. If the SRS light is on again after you reconnect the battery, look for something broken or disconnected. If the light doesn't come back on, at least for a while, then it is intermittent. THen you can decide if you want to take it to the shop.
Remember, when the SRS (AB) lamp is on, the air bags likely won't protect you in a collision.

It seems to be a little bit common for that air bag light to come on.
