Wife and I picked up a 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe last week w/80k miles on it. Going through the owners manual I noticed that in California the 60K miles timing belt service is listed as inspect and all other states it's replace every 60k miles.

Did Hyundai put different timing belts in the Santa Fe's sold in CA that last longer? Just found that one odd.

I would change at 60,000mi. Then it's done.

Wasn't asking about whether I should change mine (BTW it was done by previous owner, was listed in CarFax report), just was wondering why Hyundai didn't make it a requirement at every 60k miles in California but did everywhere else (according to the service schedule in the owner's manual).
Just trying to find out if something was mechanically different in those engines vrs. the other 49 states.
