If I boot up my computer with the mouse plugged in usb I get that error. If I wait till its completely booted up then plug it in, it works just fine for a couple mins, then will bsod with same error. I have an asus mobo, a8n32 sli deluxe, 7600 bfg technologies geforce video card pci 16x express, amd athlon 64 3700+ cpu, (2) 1gb gskill ddr500 ram which I believe has a compatablilty problem with my mobo and a 420w power supply which I believe could be the root of the problem but I wanted alternate oppinions. The only thing that I've changed is, I moved my computer to my new appartment and lost the green adaptor thing so I'm running usb for my mouse till I find it again, packed up some where im sure. I know i need a bigger powersupply before I run SLi but I thought that 420w would be enough to run my current setup till I buy a bigger one. I'm just using my keyboard right now and everything's fine but its annoying to tab all over the place. As alwasy you guys are awesome and I thank you for your time and assistance.

You might go into setup[bios] and see if usb is maybe off, is this xp?

Well, a powered USB hub for the mouse and the other USB items might eliminate the power supply angle, but I know spending money to find stuff like this out is usually a bad deal. :)

Assuming you are using Windows XP, I might check for ghosted devices (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315539/en-us and uninstall any ghosted duplicate mouse drivers or any ghosted usb drivers of any description), and I might also turn off power management on the root hubs (Device manager->open "Universal Serial Bus Controller", and for each on each "USB Root HUB", rigth click and go to properties->power management and uncheck "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power") and check for, and uninstall (or reinstall, if you need it) any mouse management/configuration software (intelipoint et al.). Also, it is never a bad idea to go to device manager, right-click and uninstall the "root hubs", reboot, and allow the usb stuff to be re-detected (have a driver disk handy, if applicable).

Also, and this is probably a no brainer, but if you have any other unpowered USB stuff you don't need to use the computer, unplug it for awhile and test (incase it is a power drain thing), and try the mouse in a different USB port.

    Best O'luck!

well I disconnected the power to my 2nd cd rom drive and my floppy drive and my led fan and just left the case off for now to make sure it wont over heat, but yeah now I can use my mouse via usb fine with no problems so I'm thinking that when you have a usb device connected it automaticly allocates a certian amount of power to run the device or something I dunno, its really weird. Yeah though I am on xp is there a way to tell how much power you're using up, such as like you're using...412watts of 420, or does it not work like that.
