0x800106ba=Who Knows?

O.K., I've been to enough M$ forums, cafe shops...whatever!! I can't seem to get a straight answer elsewhere, so I'll try the MAJOR GEEKS, 'cause you simply know what you're talkin' about...when I try to run Windows Defender Beta 2 I get the "0x800106ba" can't start errorthingy...

Gateway Solo 9300 laptop 400mhz Celeron 128MB/6GB HDD Win2K SP4/latest update....

You get the picture. I've done the "gdi+" thang and rebooted too many times to count!!

It's time for straight answers, the call is going out.

I got same problem 2 days ago and google did not help in anyway so I did it myself and now it works perfect.

Here is how I've managed :

Originaly problem was regarding a bad clock settings (I've used to check some dates in 2007 and put back the time settings on Aug 28 2007 instead 2006).

As everyday I've launched WinDef and worked perfect.

Problem appears next day when I want to launch it again.
Live messenger and Win Def got some error code.

I've changed the time / date settings properly, uninstall winDef.
Run CCleaner to clean the database, and also Regcleaner in case.

Restart computer, reinstall WinDef
Restart and then eveything works properly

So in my case was a bad time/date settings and I think when you run winDef it used this datas to store some information and when you setup back to a previous normal date settings it turns into error
