I have bee using Outlook for years. Just recently I have had problems sending emails and I get the 0x80042109 error. I do not have a MSN account, this is an account that has been created through my website. I have tried changing the port to 587 from 25, that didn't work. I have tried creating a new account, that didn't work. I contacted my webmaster and checked the settings that are required and they match with what I have. So what the heck is going on????

Method 1: I have been connected to the internet
Method 2: Connection settings are correct
Method 3: I started outlook in safe mode
    Method 4: I created a new profile
Method 5: I checked for suspicious emails - result none
Method 6: Norton not very helpful
    Method 7: I repaired outlook
Method 8: My SMTP emails are valid
Method 9: This is a business computer and I can not and will not alter the Firewall

    Non worked............

Well, method 9 would be your reason. If it is company property, and you are trying to add personal mail, I would bet dimes to dollars that the IT department of your company has it locked down in GPO.

Bronwizs - I am a small business and I am the only employee. The email that does not work is the business. I do not have personal email.

Also on a second note, as I am not sure how outlook works and that I have never had this problem. As long as my outlook is open, up and running it is constantly trying to send my emails that are stuck in my outbox..... all day long. I continue to receive emails throughout the day but I can not send them. Can anyone help?

Go back and recheck the server settings for the email provider that you mainly use. Some like Yahoo & hotmail, do not allow the use of Outlook, unless you pay extra.

    FIGURED IT OUT!!!

I contacted my email provided and refused to be blown off and after almost 45 minutes with them it was determined that I could use alternative ports.

    Incoming: Changed to 993
    was 110

    Outgoing: Changed to 587
    was 25

    :-D:-D:-D:-D:-D
