0x80070017 data error(cyclic redundancy check)

Can anyone help with error. I have vista home premium laptop. Every time I try to do a backup I get this error. I've run check disk on my hard drive and found nothing. Please help Microsoft does'nt even have much help on it. Its mostly for install and I am not trying to install. Just want to do my back ups routinely. :confused

I doubt that it is critical, but it would be nice to know.

BAcking up to external Iomega hdd 450 (I think) GB, half empty

Background data: Running Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bitwith all updates to date on:
AsusTek M4N78-AM
CPU:
Name AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 810 Processor
Cpu Socket Socket AM3 (938)
Max CPU Speed 2600 MHz

Memory:
Maximum Capacity 8192 MBytes

I noticed this happens on Vista and Windows 7. These below look good. In the first one below, I notice that it was using error checking on a USB expansion drive that fixed the problem, although I guess it could have been any of the drives:

It's always confusing if someone resurrects a 4+ year old topic, even if the problem appears to be similar. Better start a new topic, so people won't think there are two unresolved problems in one topic.
