Hi, I've read through the Windows Update issues and none are relevent to me, so here goes

I just installed a new Hard Drive, installed XP, sorted Network connection and virus protection, then into Windows Update, I installed Active X and click check for Updates, it then gave me the Express or All option, I clicked express, and got this error (several times)

    [Error number: 0x80244019]
The website has encountered a problem and cannot display the page you are trying to view. The options provided below might help you solve the problem.

I went online and found a message board, (see below) and I followed their instructions to the T, got to the last bit where I run Microsoft Fixit and it won't run because I don't have SP3, I can't get SP3 until updates work?

please help and keep it simple :)

    Hi Mary

What you could try is to download the full version of XP SP3 HERE and then see if that will install as this will negate having to go through the long winded updates to get to SP3.

Its not a small download 300+ MB as its the full update package but is more likely to work better than the downloading update, IMHO anyway.

If you get any errors while installing this update do write them down exactly and let us know as they will link to any problem you may have, I would also disable your anti-virus software while installing the SP3 update.
