1.3ghz slower than 1ghz Athlon!

I recently upgraded my processor from a 1Ghz Athlon, 200Fsb to a 1.3Ghz Athlon, 200Fsb, the problem is it appears to be much slower, my bios recognises it, and Windows Xp recognises it, I tried Sisoft Sandra and it recognizes it too as being a 1300 Athlon, to confirm my suspicion, I normally use Winavi converter to changed avi to dvd vob files, the avi I normally convert takes approx 40 minutes to do, now it takes 55 minutes, that is a decrease of about 35%, I have a Gigabyte mobo which I thought about reflashing to the next version, but if it recognises it, surely it must be working.
Any ideas?

 

If you could, I would benchmark the system with both CPUs installed to get a solid figure on how they perform differently. This would be good justification if you needed to RMA the processor. Please see this link for instructions, if needed.

Then, I would follow the instructions in the Speed Up Your PC thread. Benchmark again afterwards, if you wish.

If you are still not experiencing a performance increase, then I would say you have the grounds to return the freaking thing.

Do note that you're not going to see THAT much of an improvement, in the best of situations.
