1 Month till basic....

I have one month left till i go to national guard basic traning...Im scared to death and excited at the same time..any one have any advise on how to get ready????

Keep your eyes and ears open, mouth shut; do what the DI tells you. It's only 2 months, you can do it.

Be a sponge, soak up the knowledge

 

Have fun before you go cause its gonna be rough

Exercise. Running, push-ups, sit-ups, chin-ups, you name it. You'll do plenty during basic.

Everything else you need, they'll provide once you're there. Expect it to be tough, but expect to succeed. You will.

Oh and if you haven't had to already... count so peeing in a bottle that first day. I'm not meaning to make any acquisitions but I'm sure the last thing you want is to be home by the end of the week to face your family & friends.

And take advantage of any and all educations opportunities which come along.

74B computer tech ( i think its 74B thayre channging the MOS # or somthing..) All iv seen so far is mass confusion ...its 9 weeks from what i hear.. ya think thay will let me go home for Xmas ??

yea, it'll be laid back in ait. .no slacking on the pt tho. .
and being in the guard. .your gonna slack when ya get home. .dont let yourself
your gonna see alot of 40yo overweight E-4's stuck in a slot
in the guard promotions are differant than reg Army. you dont just get permoted when its time, and your good at what you do. if you enter a unit that needs an e-4 slot filled for your mos, you as an at least e-2 will fill that slot till ya reach e-4. if ya want to move on, take the class's, do great on pt, and look outside the unit if you have to, to advance.You can even change you MOS.
and ifn ya get a woman. . lol. . .dont let her make you leave it. .
at some point you might want to be an officer. .dont. .if your gonna do it, go warrent officer. . .
you can even make it a full time job. yes the national guard has full time slots(neat,huh)they will be posted somwhere in your unit. . .

I already have basic is all i can think about.. I gatta be doing somethign or i rost my brain thinking about it...... I have a lot of movies to watch so first is tron ....

You get 2.5 days leave for every month on active duty. So based of 4-6 months for Basic/AIT depending on MOS. You should be able to go home on the Xmas break.

 

Basic Training, huh? Just do your upmost, and you should be fine. Be focused, and don't get distracted by the whingers.

(I still remember that - D.I. Sergent "SHUDDUP!!!". Gotta love 'em! )

 

Thanks for the support everyone i will miss posting here ..A forum i joined more then a year and a half ago to get a little bit of driver help turned into this ..I never whould have thought....Like i said in one of my first posts " I like it here ".........

Basic it being two months long. Depending on when you report and actually start it will be cutting it close if you report in a month. They don't like to interrupt Basic to allow holiday leave. So don't make plans or promises (or let anyone buy you a ticket). Setbacks in training do occur (for various reasons), which can add to your time there.
