10 good things about being poor.

abbysue's post made me wish i was in a position to buy a house or at least have enough money not to worry about rent.....so
1) i do not worry about theft as i have nothing to steal. this includes identity theft, as i have no credit either.
2) i do not worry about the stock market or interest rates.
3) i will never think that someone only loves me for my money.
4) unexpected windfalls bring such pleasure. even if its only a tenner in a birthday card i always spend 'extra money' on extras.
5) i don't have to make my child a pack lunch for school every day.
6) necessity is the mother of invention. i think poverty makes you creative, and i have taken 'make do and mend' to a whole new level.
7) i actually enjoy shopping at the sally army and get a kick out of a bargain.
8) i don't have to worry about dinging my new car.
9) being poor prevents vices. (although i do smoke ciggies, but i have to roll my own, and that cuts it down)
10) last but not least....THE BEST THINGS IN LIFE ARE FREE.

please feel free to add to this or come up with one of your own. (i once made a list of ten good reasons to have a premature baby lol)

 

1. You can only get richer
2. You appreciate the smaller things in life
3. You don't have to argue with credit card companies and banks
4. You know what a Taco Crunchwrap is (my gosh..they are so awesome!)
5. You house isn't cluttered with useless things you'll only use once.
6. You have better survival skills...like being able to cook, sew, darn
7. You appreciate quality, rather than expect it.
8. People don't come to you and ask for your a loan
9. No-one asks to borrow your car.....even if it looks ok they know they'll be no gas in it anyway
10. Your kids don't know the words Nike, Adidas, Umbro

 

Being poor doesn't hamper generosity. A giving heart isn't dependent on a bank balance.

 

i am just fortunate to have the room and time to put people up. people often come for a free holiday, and sometimes a couple of months in paridise is worth its weight in gold.

yet another good thing about Hawaii. teeshirts and surf shorts and flip flops is as fashionable as it gets here. i don't even know what umbro is. i would put money on the fact that my son doesn't either. i am glad I'm not under the pressure to dress him in anything remotely designer. i remember when my eldest were younger. 100 pound trainers that lasted no longer than the twenty pound variety. flip flops are two bucks (about a quid)

 

Yup. Paid 3 bucks for my flip flops this summer and lived in them. Can't get used to calling them "thongs" though

 

Two different things here, Please note, Thongs ride a bit higher if ya know what I mean ( Butt Floss "LOL")
