I have no political affiliation anymore. Picking between Bush and Kerry is just picking the lesser of two evils. Neither are suitable candidates for the job, in my opinion, but it seems we have to take what we can get.

I just found this while surfing around, and thought it might be of some interest to folks here. If you wish to engage in debates, then so be it, but it should be known that my intentions while posting this were benign. Simply to inform.

And, yes, I too would be happy to be up there.

I feel the same way as Gott.

Both suck, royally, but the idea I guess is to choose the lesser of two evils.

I guess that would explain the 'independent' on my voter registration card.

Of course, I am leaning towards Bush.

Well, I wouldn't go so far as to say they royally suck. I mean, they have gotten as far as they have. It's hard to suck so bad at something, and then be in a position to run the most powerful nation in the world.

I just can't find myself agreeing with the candidates 100% on various issues, and I require that in order to fully support any person running for office. Sure, I don't have to agree with them on everything, and it rarely happens anyway...but if they can't convince me, then they aren't fit for the job. ;)

Re: 100 Non-Arguable Facts Against the Bush Administration. OR Yay for political thre

So many distortions, so little time. By the time I went through all of them, the election would be over any way.

In general, concerning the current financial condition, Bush inherited a recession from Clinton. The dot-com collapse started on Clinton's watch, and Bush got the continuation of the downward curve. Followed by a direct attack on Wall Street that started a war. Those towers were more than just tourist attractions. Direct losses of revenue and taxes were immense, as were the effects on many industries, including mine; aviation. Again, not Bush's doing. And war is never cheap. Every war costs more than we currently have, and causes deficits. Again, not Bush's doing. Forget any plans made in 2000. Recession and war have changed things, just as they did in December of 1941. Pretending that all that was Bush's fault is obscene.

For every single bill that was criticized, make that read that Congress wrote and passed the bills, and the President signed them. He didn't do it all by himself.

First president since Hoover to lose jobs? Tell that to those that were around during the 30s, when unimployment went to 25%, not the roughly 5.5% we have today. Which, by the way, is the SAME figure we had during the booming 90s. Bah.

I can't give you 100 points against Kerry's proposed policies, since for the most part all he's done so far is to say that he would have done and will do things better than Bush. Some of what he DOES says contradicts itself, and many of his promises contradict what he's done for the last 20 years. He promises programs that will cost trillions more, and promises to reduce the deficit at the same time, only by repealing the modest tax cut. Not even remotely possible. Said tax cut returned a flat percentage to those that paid taxes. Those who PAID more, got more back. That "top 20%" is paying MOST of the taxes now. Class envy always sells. The peons love it. And by the way. NONE of what he promises is possible unless Congress writes and passes the bills to make it so. The president is NOT a king that can do things with a wave of the hand.

This is about as "fair and unbiased" as the thread we had a while back that cherry picked Republican politicians that didn't serve in the military, while ignoring the many MANY that did serve. Bah.

Re: 100 Non-Arguable Facts Against the Bush Administration. OR Yay for political thre

Because Kerry would be worse. I'd rather vote for the Constitution party, but since they haven't got the proverbial snowball in hell's chance ofwinning, I prefer not to throw my vote in the toilet. Bush isn't perfect by any means, but choosing the lesser of two evils is lessening the evil, which is better than nothing.

what about all the babies bush killed in iraq?

what about the babies who don't have a chance because their mothers are poor and cant afford adequate child care and since bushs cuts in social services, they will grow up to sell their bodies for crack?

Thanks for the history lesson, GT. How soon people forget the truth. When shown a lie often enough (such as our media does), it soon becomes truth. And nobody is ever held responsible. Case in point, Dan Rather.

Abby, if Bush does win, the Dems will try to steal the election as they did 4 years ago. So, it won't be over for a while.

Some say Bush stole the election. How can you steal that which was yours. I recall that Gore called Bush to concede and then recanted. Yes, he probably would have won if they were allowed to continue counting. They would have presumed that all incomplete ballots were cast for Gore, because stupid people always vote Dem by their way of thinking . I also recall that those who were crying about voter disenfranchisement wouldn't count many of the military absentee ballots.

As far as the 100 facts:
Facts can always be distorted. Bias can actually be used to make a fact appear to mean something entirely different, or transfer the focus so to speak.

    Examples:
"1. The Bush Administration has spent more than $140 billion on a war of choice in Iraq.

    Source: American Progress "

Talk about bias. "war of choice" that's not journalism, that is bias pure and simple.

I could go through all of them and point out the bias in each one, but that would take a while.

dems stealing election? you got the wrong way ... see in the florida election they used this law that bars felons the right to vote ... but that wasn't good enough for the corrupt people in the bush team so they simply "randomly" barred blacks their right to vote ... thousands of registered blacks who are upstanding citizens were turned away from the voting place in 2000 ... this really actually happened it is no "conspiracy"

Who is really to blame for that? It started with the erosion of family values, sexual promiscuity, basically a decline in moral values.
Do you know how much of our money is spent on health care for felons in prison? We foot the bill for their sex changes, braces, etc. They get better coverage than many US citizens. Oh, what about the illegal aliens?
We need to fix that problem first.
It is a much larger problem than trying to blame on one person.

    Please do. I got time.

That seems to be the basis for the war in Iraq under the Bush administration. The Bush administraion lies constantly and I'm shocked that so many Americans believe the lies and when they find out that they are lies they don't seem to mind. They still support Bush. ???? I don't get it. ????

Yeah. Bush chose to go too war against the wrong country. It's not like America had to. America should have gone to Afganastan to wage war like in Iraq.

I've got a yearly income (Yes, combined between Eric and I) of less than $8,000. Now, I know that I live in a unique situation (quickest sum -up: I live communally with several members of my church), but I depend on Public Aid for my kids and my medical treatment, and I also use WIC for supplimental Milk, Eggs, Cereal and cheese. I live in Chicago in Uptown which is the poor area of the North side of the city. I'm giving all these details, because if the cuts in social services were really that bad, I would be feeling them personally, and I'm not. I am feeling the effects of a recession. We're actually making half of what we were making before 9/11, but I agree with GT. There wasn't much Bush could do about that. I just enrolled my daughter into a head start program at a local elementary school with no problem at all, and I had a choice between 3 or 4 head start programs that are within easy walking distance from my house. There are several park districts either within walking distance or a quick bus ride away where I can (and do) take my child for extra activities (tumbling, dance, art, etc.). There is a lot out there. Personally, I think the government does far more than it should. IMO, social service should be the job of the church, and many do their part, but many more sadly fall very short.

    What then Hmmm?

How about how many people Saddam killed? Because you didn't hear about it on a biased news channel, that makes it ok?

No. Not at all. I don't live in America so I'm not force-fed media BS everyday and expected to believe everything I see, hear, and read when it's presented to me by the media.

I keep an open mind and go by the truth.

    101. Kerry voted for the war and changed his mind. He does this all the time. His track record on voting is horrible as far as showing up goes. I heard he will lose his own state in the election, thats a tell tale sign. A great leader needs to have convictions and stick to them even when people disagree. Kerry lacks that, he lacks any substance.

No leader we have can ever be perfect and for every point there is a counter-point, so I will not waste my time going beyond that. There is just no way I can vote for Kerry, he scares me. He is a lawyer for God's sake! Lying and backstabbing and screwing people over is second nature to those people.

    No different at all.

The media is a profitting business. They are there to make money. As such they only report what sells and makes the most money.

There are stories about happy Iraqi citizens because they were liberated.

But you know what? The news media doesn't focus on that, because good news doesn't sell!

Sure it is. I live in Canada and get American, Canadian, and some British channels on TV. The way the news is covered on both Canadian and British TV is far different than on American TV channels.

The Canadian media is more open and honest than the American media.

I remember during Desert Storm, I was in High School and there was a group of student reporters who went there to report what they saw.

What they ran into was something of complete surprise. The citizens were apologizing to them and telling them to report to the US that the Iraqi people really are not like this, that they are good people (The way Saddam was being).

We are not targetting citizens, we are targetting military and insurgent forces.

I know. I've heard of how many millions of Iraq's people are happy to be liberated, but my original point is that Bush lied to the American people and led them to Iraq instead of Afganastan where he should have gone to get the Terrorists.

The media in America never really seemed to point that out and just went along with it. Since the media went along with it so did the American people without really thinking about the whole situation.

Please, drugs and gangs and crack were around in huge numbers during the Clinton administration, and before the Clinton administration. so that is a weak argument.

And Hussein seems to have Bush beat when it comes to baby killing. Don't forget, too, that there are Iraqis killing other Iraqis in this war. It isn't only American troops running around mowing everybody down. Iraq is not a settled nation yet, and there are plenty of Hussein's people fighting against the US and against their own people. They are merely following the leadership set down by Hussein.

I wondered at the beginning why we were going to Iraq, but don't forget, we did go to Afghanistan, and we are still in Afghanistan, and the media is actually the one who keeps the focus on Iraq. I know that if the media wants a story, they will get a story, and if they went to Afghanistan to get a story, there would be plenty to report. But, they'd rather paint a picture of Iraq, and forget about Afghanistan, which leads the people to believe that the US has forgotten about Afghanistan. But don't forget the friendly reminder we just got in the mail from Mr. Bin Laden. Seems he doesn't care who wins, he'll just attack us again anyway.
