10000 hdd

are they worth it...im thinking of upgrading my hard drive...i have a samsung 100 gig ide...do u guys think its necessary for me to upgrade? i havent even filled up 10 gigs but like if i get a dif 7200 will it be faster? and do u think the raptors are that much faster?

 

raptors are quite a bit faster, but IMO they're not worth the price unless you are running a small server.

what IS worth the price are the new maxtor 16mb cache SATA drives, which are half the cost (or less) that the Raptors and performed about 80% as well in numerous reviews I saw.

I just ordered one for my brothers new system, but it hasnt arrived, so I can't just yet speak from personal experience.
