121 veterans linked to killings

A friend was over last evening and said her daughter was involved with a really nice young man, first ever she had brought to meet the family.
The bad news - he was stationed in Iraq and recently flipped out running down the street thinking he was back there. It took her a while to get him calmed down and helped him to seek help through The Veterans Administration. He did but soon after she found out he was taking drugs and sleeping around.
There are wounds then there are wounds. Think I mentioned before if you see someone sleeping on the street, pushing a grocery cart you can bet they are vets from some previous war.

Very sad story
Hopefully one day the whole idea of war will be just a bad memory

 

Sad, but true. I know several Viet Nam vets who are either professional panhandlers, homeless, or drug- /alcohol-addicted. (or all three/four)

 

One of the "benefits" of WW1 was that it took a long sea voyage to help de-program the soldiers. In every war since, one day you are at war, the next day you are a "civilian". Very hard (impossible) to forget the war trauma in a day. Bazza
