    Hi,
I am new here and wanted to request some help with this virus issue. I don't know the name, but I can tell you some specifics. "System error. Your computer was infected by unknown trojan. It's dangerous for your system(critical files can be lost)! Click OK to download the antispyware program to clean your system. (recommended)"

That is the message that pops up every time I hyperlink or change web addresses, etc. This occured last night when I attempted to download a movie file. Yet, it hijacked the search engines(google, yahoo, etc.) by placing a box when a search is initiated saying, "Your browser was hijacked. Some results were changed by advertising. You need to clean your system immediately to prevent it. Download the newest antispyware software!"

I did run Adware,Spybot, and McAfee Advert . My HiJackThis log is below. The McAfee log says I have 191 viruses?! I would appreciate any help you could lend! Thanks

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Please follow the instructions in the below link and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions. Make sure that you disable Spybot's Teatimer where requested in the Spybot procedure of the below. Otherwise before we get started fixing any remaing malware we will just be telling you to disable it again.

Wow! This virus has completely taken over. My wife got on this computer this morning and opened microsoft word. Now every single thing I click on brings up a word dialog box and opens word(unusable). It does this when: 1) I try to run msconfig, 2) uninstall, 3)download cleaner, etc. I think this computer is irreparably damaged. It's not mine, it's my wife's computer and she has this expensive SAS program on it. This seems hopeless. I don't know what to do? An advice? Thanks!

You need to try all steps in the READ ME. Especially the MGtools.exe part. Even if you have to try running the steps in safe boot mode. If you cannot get us any logs, we cannot help you. All I could suggest otherwise if for you to use System Restore to change back to a restore point before the problem began.

Thanks for offering your help. I could not perform any of the tasks in safe mode either. All .exe files were attached to microsoft word. I had to call Dell to let someone "take control" of my computer and perform a system restore. It had hijacked system restore as well, so they had to take multiple steps. Anyway, thanks.
