I'm not sure I understand what you mean by ". . . compatible with my Windows Media Player". What do you mean by "compatible"? There are are free burning programs available in the Major Geeks Backup downloads section, and many of them are free. The files burned by these programs will be recognized by WMP (like music files and video files) so you'd be able to play any burned music CDs on the PC through WMP (or any other media player). I hope this helps.... if I'm off base, please explain exactly what you need and we'll try again :-D

. . . and welcome to Major Geeks! :wave :major

Usually Roxio will come either with the computer or with a Rom Drive you bought (I think Sony is usually the one with Roxio/Sonic) so look in the box if you kept it to see if you can find the disk. If Roxio is still in your Add/Remove programs there is a chance if you highlight it and select the "Click here for more information" link, if it has one, sometimes there is a repair option in there that may or may not require the original disk. But if its there, its worth a try, disk or not.

When I need a replacement for a disk I owned, lost or damaged, I usually search on the ftp sites for anyone who might have stored a backup copy there. Here are a couple of ftp search engines I use for this purpose:

    Code:
    http://search.ftphost.net/indexer/search.aspx
    or
    http://www.filewatcher.com/
The first one has a few popups that run when you open it so have a popup blocker ready or just close them out.

Also I have found that even when a direct download of the file you want fails, you can often get it with a download manager (flashget 1.73) or with an ftp client (Filezilla) by copying the ftp address. Anything you download from there you should immediately scan with your anti-virus and or spyware app, not all thats out there is clean and the one storing the file may not even be aware it has malware in it.
