    Hi all,

Was wondering if anyone has any ideas:

I try to connect a 2,5" drive to a desktop pc via IDE. I set the jumper to slave, connected it to the IDE as secondary drive (and a master hdd as primary) and it all shows up at the the start-up screen.

But once in Windows, I can't see the drive.

I did the same with 2 other 2,5" and it worked just fine.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance:)

Has the new drive been formatted?

Hm, I am actually not sure, but good point.

    How could I test that?

Go into Computer Managment and then Disk Managment. See if the drive is showing up there, and needs to be formatted.

Welcome to Major Geeks, by the way :)

    Just did.

    It doesn't appear.

And thanks for the Welcome :)

    You're welcome.

In that case, I'm not sure. If it is showing in BIOS then the drive is alive to that extent anyway.

You certain the jumper is positioned properly? That's all I can think of. Hopefully someone else will chime in with some other ideas.

Do you only have one IDE cable?

Does both drives had CS (Cable Select) on them? Try that instead.

    Hi theefool,

    Thanks for all your suggestions.

Just tried that with the IDE, to no avail.

Also tried it on a different hd as master but didn't make a difference.

I dont think I can test your second suggestion because I would need a special 40dma cable, right? The adaptor that connects the 2,5" to the IDE unfortunately only goes on a 40DMA, not 80dma cable.
