2.5 Gb Ram in Vista Q

Hello,
I previously had 1Gb of ram in my vista system (256x2/512x1). Not only was this a slow configuration but I also wanted an upgrade to two Gb. Since I only have 4 slots on my D865GBF mobo, I need to buy another whole 2 gigs. So anyways, I previously had a 4.3 memory rating on my 1gb of ram, when I installed my 2gb the rating dropped to 4.1. I know Vista ratings aren't a big deal, but I'm worried that I might not have my RAM configured correctly.

What I've checked:
-The two 1Gb sticks are both in the DIMM Channel A and the 512 is in Channel B.
-Under My Computer>properties the full 2559MB memory shows up
-The new memory is definately the right speed, PC-3200
My only thought...this ram was supposed to have uniquely better timings and people said all they needed to do for performance was tweak the timings? I'm not very experienced in the memory field so if someone had any ideas or comments, anything would be appreciated! Thanks!

Your RAM modules support dual channel configuration and i would imagine that your mobo should also!

Try installing this way to harness the advantage of dual channel mode!

Place a 1gig stick in the primary DIMM on bank A, and the other 1gig stick in the primary DIMM on bank B!

The primary's should be colour coded appropriately and this should see an overall performance increase for you!
You can add the 512's in the other remaining DIMMS, although it should not see all that much of a significant improvement!

If in doubt....refer to your Mobo manual, or post mobo specs so as we may help you configure it.
