ok here goes the 1st question

    1. In single-user dedicated systems, it is generally obvious when a program goes into an infinite loop. But in multiuser systems running large numbers of processes, it cannot easily be determined that an individual process is not progressing.

    A. Can the OS determine that a process is in an ifinite loop?

    B. What reasonable safeguards might be built into an OS to prevent processes in ifinite loops from running indefinitly?

    2. In some systems, a spawned process is destroyed automatically when its parent is destroyed; in other systems, spawned processes proceed independently of their parents, and the destruction of a parent has no effect on its children.

    A. dicuss the advantages and disadvantages of each approach.

    B. Give an example of a situation in which destroying a parent should specifically not result in the destruction of its children.

If anyone should know these answers to these questions i have asked would help me out alot...or if anyone could point me in a good direction would be great cause im having a bit of trouble with these 2...

Good direction to start would be to post this in the Software forum, where more of the better techies will notice it. A lot of them never drop into the Lounge.
