200 lurkers in the Software Forum :)

Just had to thumbnail this happening in the Software Forum today.

One member (me) and around 200 lurkers ! I wonder if any join up later, or is it mainly MG members who haven't logged in? :confused Bazza

 

Nah, most sites have way more lurkers than members. People come, take what they can and leave. It's a normal day of business anywhere. I've seen other sites that have 20 members listed and 1K lurkers.

They call it the 1% or 1-9-90 theory.
Someone makes a post, 9% comment on it and 90% just read.

 

I figure that there are a lot of people who come here for the first time becasue someone told them about it (good, bad or indifferent) and they figure they want to see for themselves. Then they find some good info and come back a few times, then one day, they are reading something in the lounge and want to make a reply and BAM!! They become a new member.

I dunno... I started out here way back (long story, don't ask) because I knew MA & CP from 3DFiles... heheh.. the good old days.

that is just my theory though.
