Uninstall the below as requested in step 1 of the READ ME:
Viewpoint Manager (Remove Only) <-- should have been uninstalled in step 0 of the READ ME

You can also uninstall SUPERAntispyware since we are finished with it.

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it. This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {FDD3B846-8D59-4ffb-8758-209B6AD74ACC} - (no file)
    O16 - DPF: {56336BCB-3D8A-11D6-A00B-0050DA18DE71} - http://software-dl.real.com/1268194e0775dfb25317/netzip/RdxIE601.cab
    O16 - DPF: {CAFEEFAC-0014-0001-0002-ABCDEFFEDCBA} (Java Runtime Environment 1.4.1_02) -

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixme.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.
Delete the below files if they exist:
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\MyWebSearch Email Plugin.lnk
    C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\MyWebSearch Email Plugin.lnk
    C:\WINDOWS\pss\MyWebSearch Email Plugin.lnk

    Now run Ccleaner!

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it.

    Then attach the below log:
    • C:\MGlogs.zip
I don't expect the above to have any significant impact. Thus like your other PC, you may be having non-malware problems.

    Uninstalled Viewpoint Manager

    Uninstalled SUPERAntispyware

Ran analyse.exe and fixed the 3 files

Copied the bold text to notepad and merged with the registry **but I think I forgot to save as "all files"** so I did it again...hope I didn't do something bad!

Only one of the files that you wanted me to delete (the one in Windows) existed so I deleted it.

    Ran Ccleaner

Ran GetLogs.bat and attaching the log.

Okay I see you uninstall Spotmau Wincare 2008 on this PC too. Did it also not yield any performance improvement on this PC?

    Please answer the below questions.
    1. What exactly is slow?
    2. All operations?
    3. Boot Up?
    4. Shut down?
    5. Surfing/downloading?
    6. Is it also slow in safe boot mode?
Note that while 512 MB of RAM does allow Win XP to run, it is not what I would consider an acceptable amount of RAM. IMHO, 1 GB or more is a good idea.

No, it did not make a difference on this computer either.

    Please answer the below questions.
    What exactly is slow?

    All operations?
I don't think it is all operations, I think it is mainly on the internet.

    Boot Up?
    Yes.

    Shut down?
    Yes.

    Surfing/downloading?
Surfing is very slow. Loading pages like majorgeeks.com is very slow.

Is it also slow in safe boot mode?
It is amazing how much faster everything is in safe mode.

Note that while 512 MB of RAM does allow Win XP to run, it is not what I would consider an acceptable amount of RAM. IMHO, 1 GB or more is a good idea.
I have been wondering if it is time to replace this computer...I guess that answers my question.

Then it would appear that it is related some how to what you are running. Various things do not load in safe mode. There can be many differences in drivers and other software. You can experiment with MSconfig (this is what it was designed for....temporary debugging). You can use MSconfig to selectively choose what items to load at startup and possibly determine what are the major contributors to your problems. This however is not a topic for this forum where we are extremely busy working malware issues.

You don't need to replace the computer. A 2.8 Ghz PC is more than adequate for most people. Just get more RAM in it. 1Gig would be much better. 2 Gig would be great. ;)
