2nd hard drive help

Hi,
I would like to install a 2nd hard drive in my comp. There is no cage to hold it in place, but have ide cables there for slave.
What I'm looking for is a ling to buy the cage or whatever it is called to hold the 2nd drive in.
I googled and only found external cases. What is the proper term for the cage that hold the hard drive?

As most cae designs vary, there s little chance of finding an 'off the shelf' cage.
Have you a spare 5.25" slot in the case? You could just mount the 2nd drive in there with 2 side screws to hold it in place.

 

you can also find drive enclosures pretty cheap. They use usb 2.0 or firewire. I have a usb 2.0 and seems fast enough for me but the firewire is faster. I just picked one up on sale for 30 bucks. If you get one make sure it has a switch to turn it on and off.. hope this helps and welcome to major geeks!

 

Or do what I do, leave it hanging with just enough ground contact to make it work still works though lol
