2nd infected computer

Hello,

I have several computer systems that have malware in them, and I've attached the scan results from the second one. The malware is causing the computers to all act ineffectively in the same manner, leading me to belief the virus has been transferred between systems via an external hard drive. The main thing that I've noticed, although there might be others, is that I cannot connect to the internet. The malware creates a winsock error. Network diagnostics tries to fix it, but it isn't able to. This has been causing a lot of problems and stress and I'd really appreciate the help!

MGTools was run in safe mode, I would like you to work in NORMAL mode from now on please if that's possible.

No HJT log in your MGlogs.zip, do the below, making sure you agree to the Trend Micro HJT license agreement. Click accept TWICE.

Navigate to C:\MGtools\analyse.exe and double click to run it, bearing in mind what I said above.

Running from: E:\ComboFix.exe <--- You need to move it onto the desktop. What is the E Drive? You need combofix on C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\desktop.

Now we need to use ComboFix

Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!

If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.

Also make sure you have shut down all protection software (antivirus, antispyware...etc) or they may get in the way of allowing ComboFix to run properly.

If ComboFix tells you it needs to update to a new version, make sure you allow it to update.

Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below quote box. Ensure you scroll down to select ALL the lines:

I'm still receiving the winsock error message when I try to connect to the internet.

Have you tried using superantispyware to fix it? Go to the repairs tab and choose from the list available there and give it a shot.

I don't think so, no. I'll have you download a new copy and you can overwrite the old version.

Download a fresh copy of combofix to your desktop.

I have now (I hadn't before) tried repairing the winsock error with SAS, but it didn't alleviate the problem. I've attached the results from me doing what you said to do in the previous post. I feel like this one's getting real close to getting fixed, thanks for all of your help!

I am not seeing any malware in those logs now, but there a good many registry keys which should not be locked that need unlocking.

Can you connect to the internet in safe mode with networking?

Tell me the exact error.

Answer/do the below

does Windows Device Manager show any problems on your Network Interface
what browser are you using and have you tried more than one
can you browse using IP addresses rather than a URL. Example, use http://64.233.161.104 instead of http://www.google.com
can you ping your router (assuming you have a router or cable/dsl modem). You do this from a command prompt window by using ping 192.168.1.1 or whatever the IP address of your router is.
from a command prompt window, enter ipconfig /all > c:\ipcfg.txt
There is a space after ipconfig and before and after the >
Now attach the C:\ipcfg.txt file to your next message

Also try this:

XP TCP/IP Repair 2.0

Or this... WinSock XP Fix 1.2

Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe

Follow the prompts.
When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
I will ask for this log below

Note:

Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this.
