3 TB Internal Drive on Windows 7?

I have purchased a new 3 TB internal drive to replace a failed 500 Gig.


I realise that Windows XP would not address above 2 TB, but I am running Windows 7

As you can see, whilst the drive is recognised as a 3 TB unit ( drive 2 ), when attempting to format it only allows 2 TB ( d: ).


I am trying to format for use of the whole drive unpartitioned, but it won't let me.

Is there any work around I can use to have access to the whole drive, please?

OK Folks,

I sorted it.

For future reference of those of you with a similar problem, selecting GUID (GPT) option enables the full drive to be formatted as usable.

I'm glad you got it sorted out. But, according to the specs you posted, it's a 4 TB drive
