3DP Net

Just a heads up, I see a few websites listing this program called 3DP Net, which I find funny since these large websites claim to test software first. Seems more like they are using online, automated scanners and not running the program, otherwise they would not list this if they really cared.

It installs files to your hard drive, claims to update, then opens a page with an ad. First link I clicked, out of a few links available, took me to a page where it attempted to install an Active X control. Really? Active X? I don't care what it is or does, that is a bad idea. Of course, everything being in Korea does not make me feel any better about this.

This program claims to only update your network drivers, so here are the 2 problems with that:

1: You can skip this garbage and go to the manfacturers website and download the latest driver, therefore not needing to install a whole extra program and a whole extra step.
2: While some drivers can make a big difference in performance (for example video card drivers), it is rare that an updated network card will make a noticeable difference.

So, while the program could be "called" safe, it stinks and is an extra step for nothing. Run away.

What I can't fathom is why they continue to offer software, which have received horrific reviews on their own site!!
    Cheers..

It's about clicks. Once you get big enough, you can easily turn a blind eye because of how many things you list. Many are not noticed. Very tough for us because we can not compete on size, the real shame here is that we would have to list tons of crappy programs to compete. Think about it :)

MA you don't need to compete. What's offered on MG's is sterling. :)

HA!!! I've just read the post, & "I BELIEVE".
I have to agree with MA on this one, it's all about the amount of click's their site get's. (IT'S ALL IN THE NUMBER'S)

I recently tried Avast with comodo, then spybot... Hmmmm, yeak I know BAD selection. :banghead (I'd heard bad comment's about Spybot).
I tried Comodo (Cnet) & then that's when I started to have moody prob's.
There gone now, exept for the handfull of email's I get now'n'again promoting their little app's to keep an eye on thing's for you?!? GRrrrRrrr :mad
    Just who can you trust...?!?
    MG's ;)

Unless I install a specific app for updating drivers (which I usually won't) I would not trust it. MG is about the only place I download software from because I know i can trust it ;). Other than that I get it straight from the maker of the software (and even then with all the toolbars and such it can be hard to trust unless you know what you are looking for). Thanks for the info.
