3rd Reinstall solved Firefox Error

One of the Myths is that you can take a dinosaur computer and have it work like a brand new one by installing Linux. Not gonna happen, and this is subject for another thread. I found my system was similar to towing a boat with a Pinto. Lagged and sluggish beyond painful. (Worst was the spreadsheet that HAS to be completed by 04/15. Health issues have kept me using the laptop instead of desktop for about 7 weeks. )I have long considered installing XFCE on the laptop and liked the sight of PCLinuxOS Phoenix. I did a backup to dropbox and set to install the entire disk. Sah-weet and so I do all the updates and all seemed well. I then realized PCLinusOS is RPM and I have become accustomed to using Debian- There is a Mint8 XFCE in the wild so I installed it again. And same slow problems even worse for now Firefox freezes. I tried to solve this with command line and gave up and simply reinstalled Mint 8 Helena. Hookup FEBE and fire Ursa FEBE to save all extensions, passwords, etc. And it still is stalled and crashing. A waste of a Saturday for sure! 'firefox -s' did not seem to help and I found the culprit was java or flash. I fire up a terminal and observed the obvious. I am not running Firefox. I am using (and mostly enjoying) the nightly builds which have been seemingly stable.

This thread on Ubuntu Forums tells of the same woes- Seems the Lorentz extension is not ready for prime time repositories by Ubuntu-daily-builds.
