Four questions about Zone Alarm Free Version...

    1. I tried to use it years ago and installed it for 1 day. But all it kept doing is popping up messages and bothering me asking me to accept or deny things. Is there a way to stop that?

    2. I'd also like to know if Zone Alarm changes any system, or internet settings so if I ever want to uninstall it I'll know that my pc is back to normal and that I don't have to manually go to certain areas of my system or internet settings and set stuff back to the way it was. (ie: such as small stuff or even having to turn my windows firewall back on)

    3. Lastly before I install Zone Alarm do I have to turn off my windows firewall?

    4. Is this program going to block any of my installed programs (or future installed programs) from connecting to the internet? If so how do I allow them to be connected?

    Thanx

    1. These pop ups are for a purpose to allow you to train the firewall to accept or reject software connecting to the internet, which you determine for how you wish to use your machine. Once you have trained it, you are good to go.

    2. It shouldn't unless you tell it to do so.

    3. Yes, you should not run two firewalls simultaneously.

    4. Same as question 1. You train it to allow software to have access to the internet as you see fit, bu using the pop-ups until it is trained.

Just to add to #1, before clicking accept/deny click on remember this or else you will always be pestered. I've been using it for 5 years and I love it.

yes, tick the "remember this setting" box.
also it will keep telling you when it blocks access.
you can disable that too by ticking the box that says "do not notify me when access is blocked"

    don't know about that.
yes, you will have to re-enable the windows firewall.

no, it isn't a must, but you do need to disable it before or after you install zone alarm.

i have mine configured to ask me to grant access.
that way i know when a program is accessing the internet.
there are only 2 i grant exclusive rights, my browser, and my email client.
i've also installed google earth, it requires internet access, i've granted it exclusive access too.

    no problem.
zone alarm free is a great fire wall.
