    Hello

I'm having a problem with 70.tmp.exe which is on my process list. None of my scanners find it but it is becoming a real pain.

    What does it do?
It only does something when i leave the computer alone for a few minutes. It does things at random like opening the calculator, writing a few numbers then closing it. Or opening paint drawing a few squiggles and then closing it without saving. Opening notepad and writing a line of text then closing it again without saving. On a few occasions it just shuts my computer down without warning - causing me to lose anything i have been doing.

If anybody can help i'll be very gratefull.

    Welcome to MGs!

Often this does not come alone and is many time found along with an about:blank or HSA hijacker. You should follow our standard cleaning steps below so we can get you fixed up.

    - Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support

Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.

    - Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.

After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:

    Downloading, Installing, and Running HijackThis

    Hello again.

I've run everything in the link you posted and everything worked fine. It was a combination of Bitdefender and Panda Activescan that solved my problem so thank you very much!

Do you want me to attach the logs from those two scans?

On second thought i'll attach them anyway.

    Thank you.

You should complete step 7 of the sticky so we can be sure everything was found.

Make sure viewing of hidden files is enabled (per the tutorial).

Run HijackThis and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:
    O3 - Toolbar: BitComet Toolbar - {2E608F70-C430-4bc5-96F6-608E02EBA5B2} - blank (file missing)
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [70.tmp] C:\DOCUME~1\PAUL~1.LUC\LOCALS~1\Temp\70.tmp.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [70.tmp.exe] C:\DOCUME~1\PAUL~1.LUC\LOCALS~1\Temp\70.tmp.exe

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.
Boot into safe mode and use Windows Explorer to delete
    :
C:\Documents and Settings\PAUL~1.LUC\Local Settings\Temp\70.tmp.exe <--- in fact, delete all file allowed in this Temp folder.
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\adobemgr.exe

If you get an error when deleting a file. Right click on the file and check to see if the read only attribute is checked. If it is, uncheck it and try again. Other wise open Task Manager and kill the process if running then delete the file.

Now if running Win XP goto c:\windows\Prefetch and delete all files in this folder.
Now run Ccleaner (installed while running the READ ME FIRST).

Now reboot in normal mode and post a new HJT log. And tell us how things are working.

Reminder Note: Once we have determined you are malware free you will need to disable System Restore, reboot, and re-enable system restore per step 1 of the READ & RUN ME. This only applies to if using WinXP or WinMe.

Ok I've done that now. Things are running a little slowly now, but i've heard thats normal when you delete everything in the prefetch folder so thats not a problem.

Heres the new HJT log -

Things will get back to normal with the Prefetch folder after the Prefetch cache builds back up for your typical application use.

Your log is clean. If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to go back to step 1 of the READ & RUN ME to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points. Then reboot and enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.

After that, you should work thru the below link:
