Lmao. I guess a geek forum can't hadle that much amazingness. The HTML for the youtube plugin must be bugged, because it seems like it ends a table, but doesn't start one. Lol.

My HTML vs. Your HTML. Mine would win;):p

But it's not your fault. Probably a plugin problem.

I still try my best to live in 1987 :-D
The neon decade rules all, it didn't matter how you dressed or how you wore your hair because EVERYBODY was a freak! and everybody fit in.
It was also the apex of rock, been on a 20 year slide since with only the occasional good band producing.

Some great choices there Motc7, but where are Def Lepard? :-D

And yes, the post is all messed up for me too lol

I went to high school with Jeff LaBar from Cinderella. In fact, his brother Jack still lives next door to my mom.

There would be no one home at his brother's house during the day, so Jeff asked my mom and made arrangements for her to sign for packages for him.

It would be funny to come home after work and see Jeff and mom sitting in the living room sharing some iced tea.

Great dude indeed! :dood even after he made it, he was still down to Earth.
Never actually got to know the other members, but before they made it, they would occasionally jam in the basement next door.

Ahh, I remember all the girls hanging out trying to meet him. The crazy hair and tight skimpy clothes. The girls wore some pretty cool stuff too! :-D

Van Halen had a lot of jams with good guitar riffs. Panama, Ain't Talkin Bout Love, House of Pain, On Fire, Hot for Teacher, and Change.

I always liked Wild Flower, Fire Woman, and Love Removal Machine from Cult too. I feel sorry for young people who didn't get to experience the 80's. We had real music unlike most of the junk out now.

    I mean Unchained, not Change.

Hey, they sound better after a few beers.... :-D

Van Halen and Van Hagar were great back then as well.

Van Hagar? :-D Nice, btw Eddie Van Halen didn't have "good guitar riffs" Eddie Van Halen change the way rock guitar was played and invented many of the now popular techniques used today, Two Handed Tapping being the most well known. Here's a fine example....

Studio version because all the live versions are quite long and this has a nice clean sound.
The man is not human, yes there's faster now, but then, the only person who could play like that was Hendrix and IMO from 1965 to present there has only been 2 major breakthrough players, Jimmy Hendrix and Eddie Van Halen, both changed the face of music, guitar and Rock.... forever.

Also suprised no one has Mentioned Bon Jovi, not quite sure if Guns n Roses would qualify, in fact I'm not really sure if Van Halen qualify as "Hair Bands", wer'nt hair bands more of the pretty boys with an almost pop culture style of rock.
Anyway, I guess I've kind of gone off topic a bit, but such is life lol

A Baltimore station plays a 12 noon "Hairball" Monday through Friday.

Usually 3 to 4 songs. It's a must listen at my work. :dood

Not the 80's and a far shot from a "Hair Band" :-D
I've seen that style of play before, maybe the same guy, very impressive, a realatively simple concept executed brilliantly.... and of course while the concept is simple, there's nothing simple about actually pulling it off.

That's right I should have been more concise, which is why it's common to hear the phrase "I wish I could play guitar like Eddie Van Halen" when someone wishes they could play guitar better than they do. Great drumming by Alex too. I always loved the unique tones of his Ludwig set compared to the others I heard on the radio. They are my favorite rock band. I Prefer Roth over Hagar so far as jams go but I enjoy playing the keyboard so I really like a lot of the Hagar songs too.

Ah yes Buns n Poses. I will likely never get tired of cranking up their good songs. It's So Easy is probably my favorite.

Best Van Halen song with Bette Middler..... I mean Sammy Hagar :-D was "Why Can't This Be Love" which was such an uplifting song, the keyboard riff played by Eddie was just so incredibly unique and driving.
He also played the main guitar for Micheal Jackson's "Beat It' free of charge.

As for GnR, my favourite band, Slash was/is my guitar idle and he was the one who inspired me to play, unfortunately I don't anymore but for 8 years it was my life. I learned almost all of Appetite For Destruction's lead guitar almost note for note.... the extention of Paradise City into double time with Slash proving his name was just a bit too much for me lol
Fav song has to be Sweet Child, although I do love NightTrain and Rocket Queen and I'm sorry but their version of Live and Let Die completely blew Paul Mac's out of the water.

One of my favorite G & R songs is My Michelle. It just rocks and the story line is pretty cool.

I went to a G&R concert. The opening band was awesome. I walked out of the G&R concert. My friend stayed, I sat in the parking lot listening to the radio. There old stuff is great, but damn, check the 'tude at the door...

I think me and my peeps listening to the local rock station in the parking lot had a better time...

I like Dreams the most of his songs. It's fun to play with it's fast pace and the lyrics are clean and inspirational too.

Having young people at home (my daughters) I was exposed to songs like this. My music appreciation spans from the 30's (blues) to now in all genres.
I believe my comment on youtube for this one was
How Cheesy and Hot, Did I Mention Hot? LOL

Anybody that can watch this performance can clearly see what we've lost in music over the last 30+ years. I can count on one hand the number of song done in the 80's that are worth listening to. LMO of course. ;) This video was made around 8AM.
