    Hey!
This is one of my older computers, but would still like to use it. Currently, it is a Windows 98, but it is running slowly, has system registry errors, start-up issues, you-name-it-this-has-it. I think the only solution is reformating. BUT the problem is that i don't have the Windows 98 disks, since my dad pirated it from his work (but you didn't hear that from me!). It is upgraded from Windows 95, but does't have any of the 95 files on it. I have the disks, but I don't know how to get rid of 98 safely. Any help would be appriciated.

To do a re-install of either 98 or/and 95 you will have to pick up a good legit or copied version of the OS. If you try to re-install the corrupt version of 98 that you have by burning it off, you will just have the same problems again next time around. There are plenty of downloads and links to torrents for full, working versions of both OS's out there so I would suggest to download one of those.

Sorry I couldn't be much help

Note: also do you only have the upgrade disks for it or full version

I have the full version of 95. But the start-up disk I used isn't working. It finds the os and starts, but doesn't recognize D drive so I can't get to the CD-ROM. Do you know where I can get a good start-up disk data for 95 on the net?

Startup disks can be downloaded from Bootdisk.com. Given a choice go with 98SE it is far more stable than any of the 95 versions.

@SlaveLabor What you suggested in Post #2 of this thread is PIRACY. We here at Major Geeks do not codone or support such behavior. Futher more, I have provided percy with the necessary links, personal emails are unnecessary.

And I dont understand how it is considering we made the boot disk ourselves!!
How is it piracy when I am distributing my own work.

To suggest someone download COPYRIGHTED material is PIRACY. Suggestions of this nature are not to be made here a Major Geeks. You will find your stay here to be very short if you continue to make these kind of suggestions.

I have nothing further to say on this matter, but one of the mods may.

I went to bootdisk.com to get my original start-up disk. Since then, I have found the original 95 start-up disk, and an old start-up disk made a while ago, but they all work ok until I ask for D:. Could it be something wrong with D: or the harddrive or something?

D: is most likely the RAMDRIVE. Try E: for your CDROM.
