9800 pro startup problem

I just brought a Radeon 9800 pro 256MB today. I put the card in and turned on my computer, I installed the drivers on the CD and went to restard whet it asked me to. Now, whenever I go to turn on my computer, it always freezes at the XP boot screen. I've tried uninstalling drivers in safe mode, updating drivers and even switching power cables around. My stats are - 480 watt power supply, 3.0GHZ Pentium 4, 1.5 gigs of RAM, DVD/RW/DL drive. if anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated

 

could be a bad video card.
return that one, try another.

will the computer boot in with the original card??
