98Se drivers anyone?

Hi peoples,

Anyone know where to find windows 98 drivers still, (i cant believe i am installing this version of windows).:-o

I understand that these were removed sometime ago from most sites?
Has anyone used driversguide.com recently to help or is it unsupported there now also.

I have several P.C models to install for the last of the our training areas upgrades for this year and I.T budget is shot.
So until the units are replaced i have to install win 98Se on the faster pentium 4's from another training area.

I'm just thinking that i'm going to have so much fun trying to recover 98 network and video drivers. So thought I would querry the world as i am about to embark on this process.

 

If you're installing W98 on older hardware, then you should be able to get drivers from the manufacturers or from driverguide.com or by Googling. However, free accounts at driverguide are limited to maybe 5 free downloads before you are required to pay, or set up a new account with a different name and email. If the hardware is less than 5 years old, you're likely to have a tough time finding drivers anywhere but if you post the hardware here, we can try to help you out.

Yes - most manufacturer sites still list Win98 compatible drivers for most devices. If not, drivers can be obtained from other sources (use caution with some of these).

Also, you can still go to the Microsoft update site and get all the security patches and such that were created up till they stopped support for the operating system. I just did that a few weeks ago, as I'm running win98SE on my main computer (via Microsoft virtual machine) and had no problems getting the final patches. I use it to run some old apps and a few old games I have sitting around.

There are some nice Win98 applicable downloads here at Major Geeks also - unofficial "service packs" and such.

Have found a lot of resources still available at "Driversguide.com". I've been using this site a bit for my 98 rebuilds with success, so if your looking for the old 98 driver, my first suggestion would be to check out this site.
