_ISTMPO.Dir not accessable?

While cleaning my temp files today, _istmpo.dir, located under c: windows, temp, gave me an access denied message and would not allow me to delete or open to view. I restarted in safe mode and tried again, same thing. Properties show it being created Jan 2006, I purchased my pc several years ago. It is not being detectected in Spybot or Ad-Aware, what is this, should I delete and if so, how?

Welcome to Majorgeeks!

That is probably a folder created by your OS and is not a problem. It was probably created while installing some program. It could just be set to READ only. You may need to change file's properties so you can delete it. You could also try renaming it, then reboot, and then try deleting. You may also be able to drag it to your Desktop and then delete it from your Desktop.

Thanks for the reply...The folder was (and still is) read only, it will not allow me to change it, rename it, or move it. It says there is 0 bytes and 0 folders so I guess I the folder is empty??? I was just concerned this was a virus or spyware, I could find nothing when I did a "Google" search. I'll just leave it be, thanks again for your reply.
