a.bat virus... Please help

Hi.

First of all, I did search the previous threads and only found one relating to a.bat but it was with someone using Windows XP.

For about 2 or 3 months now, whenever I turn my computer on Avast warns me 2 or 3 times straight that there is a.bat virus in the C:\ root. I delete it every time and it still shows up. I do not know if it is because of something I downloaded because I didn't pay attention to it for a little while. I have done multiple boot-up scans with Avast and nothing turns up.

Can someone please give me a little insight into how to take care of this nuisance? It doesn't seem to have a negative affect on anything it is just annoying. Thank you very much for you time.

Ok, I am not sure if that helped or not because now Avast Resident Protection doesn't even work. Also, whenever I restart my computer and log on my screen is black. I have to bring up the task manager and manually start explorer.exe
