I have been reading -and following their recomendations- of this forum for a long time now; but now I have a couple of questions:

    a) Eventhough I Am not an expert, I like to work with computers, but I have a problem, I want to copy a small Laptop Hard drive to any of my other computers, how can I do that?

    b) A friend of mine got drunk and had the "idea" of work in his laptop, but at that time decided that was a good idea "protect" his computer an put on an user name and password; obviously he forgot both of them and now he can not log into his laptop, how can He override that and star using his laptop again?

Thanks to all the troop for the answers!

Question a: The easiest way is via ethernet. A NIC between the laptop and desktop and a crossover cable is all the hardware thats needed.

Question b: Depends on the OS. Can we get a little more info?

    First things first:

    a) Is the laptop hard drive actually in a laptop?

    b) All depends what operating system it is and what hardware is availible to you

If it is NT,2000 or XP Home or PRO there are NTFS boot floppies that can change a password on a NTFS (File system for NT, 2000 or XP) to a blank password or whatever you wish. This is a very good tool to use but only if you have a floppy drive.

I'll read back later to see if you have a floppy and if so send you the files needed.

Giving an answer to both of you!!!

    a) Yes, the HD is in the laptop; and bougth an PCMCIA card and does not work or it is not recogniced by WIN95 (thats why I want to copy onto my desktop and change to WIN 98SE). Is an old AMS, but still good for what I want to use it!!! I heard about a "crossover cable", which one is that one?

    b) WIN XpPRO. And, no, does not have a floppy, just a CD-DVD-RW. This one is a IBM ThinkPad, 2.2 Mhz.

    Thaks for the quick answers!!!
