    To TimW:

I was reading the thread about Phydron and his problems. I tried to post but could not do so. His problem sounds like a hardware failure. Without the internet hook up the hardware could be sending sporadic commands and when his internet connection is in use it could be failing a lot and that could be the reason for his problems. Just a thought. :)

Anyway, I run an email server, ftp server, and basically several other servers and I use Avira to keep the system clean. Recently, spammers have taken to using my email server's site id (sim1.us) as their return address. I ran all of the suggestions here a while back because I thought I had some kind of an infection - and there was. Case closed and solved - right? It turns out - not really.

Last Wednesday I was working on some javascript stuff running Firebug and I noticed a paled out entry I had not put in to the javascript/html. It was a hidden frame called "easy-liner". I went on line and looked it up. It is a malware thing so I was going "I need to re-run Malware bytes." Spybot had not said anything about this and Avira hadn't said anything about it either. So I ran Malware bytes and it didn't say anything about it either. So I read some more online.

Of the malware type removal programs a couple people had mentioned SUPERAntiSpyware as being pretty good. I have been a bit leery of trying it because the name sounds like something a spammer would use and that really was my fault for thinking that. Anyway, I downloaded it and ran it on my system - 16 items. A grab bag of trojans and other things. So I decided to run it on my graphics machine - 8 entries. The Dell Zino - 139 entries. My wife's computer (which is our main source of problems because she likes to play all of those online games like Bubblez) - 300 entries. Her computer does run faster now. So I ran it on my server - 88 entries including DNSHacker. So needless to say - this has changed my mind about SUPERAntiSpyware and when I get paid on the 15th - I'm going to begin buying copies for all of the computers.

So why am I writing? Well, first to say I think Phydron's problems are hardware related and not software related. He may or may not be able to change out his internet hardware but there is a simple test - just disable the LAN and WAN hardware and see if the problem goes away.

The second reason is that I think SUPERAntiSpyware should go on the list of what to download and run. They do have a free version and it did find a lot of things Malware bytes did not.

    Later! :)

SuperAntiSpyware use to be one of our programs to run in the Read and Run First instructions. It is still a very viable program.
