A few questions about networking

One, I am thinking about changing my current Linksys wireless router. It is an older version WGRT I believe, I need something with better range, one level house, but from my office to my master bedroom is only about 100 ft, but the walls slow things down, So any suggestions would be great, I am looking at the Linksys E4200 V2

Two, if I do change my router, once I set the new one up, if I use the same SSID and Paraphrase password, do I have top set up all my device again, or will they automatically connect, like, Tivo, laptops, Print server etc...

Bump, 135 views and no suggestions, lol Maybe I should post this in a different section, please advise. I want to go buy a new router today but would like to hear from others first.

 

What model exactly do you have for your current router? I have a Linksys WRT400N and it seems to have good range on it. It might be interference or other issues if you're on a single floor and can't get good enough reception. And yes you should be okay with the SSID and password if you use it on the new router, but only if you don't change the security settings.

 

The Linksys I have is an older version, WRT54GS I think V 7 , the signal is fine, but from the office to in the master bedroom it drops down, And when you say as long as I don't change the security settings, I thought that the SSID and password would be OK, I also have to have the exact same settings ?? see pic below of router.
