    I followed the
"READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide"
    instructions found on this site.
I followed all the instructions on the first page, and from there, followed the link to the
    "Windows XP Cleaning Procedure"
combofix.exe, SpyBot, and AVG did not remove the DCADS problem by scanning.
However AGV does have a tab called "Browser Plugins" in the "Analysis" area, which I looked at after the scan. There was the Dc_ads/***.dll (i can't remember exactly) with a ? to the left of it.
On that screen, I selected the file and pushed the "remove object(s)" button. No more DCADS popups!!!!!!!!!
I did not continue with the next step (MGtools). If i should, someone please tell me, but I don't want to fix something that appears to be fine.

There is another questionable file in the AVG Analysis / browser plugins" tab. The following are some of the details.

    (?)Java Plug-in, Type: Browser extention
*then it says: "Browser extentions usually appear in the Tools &/or Help menu as does Windows Messenger
    Name:Java(TM 2 Platform Standard Ed. 5.0
    Description:Java(TM)2 Platform Standard Ed. binary
    Publisher:Sun Microsystems, Inc.
    File name:ssv.dll
    File Path: C:\ProgramFiles\Java\1.5.0_07\bin\ssv.dll
    Version:5.0.70.3
    TECHNICAL
    ProgID: Not available
    CLSID: {CAFEEFAC-0015-0000-0007-ABCDEFFEDCBC

I believe my Java runtime environment is working fine.
Should I leave this alone or do something about it?
    Thanks for your help.

    Hi and Welcome

Good news in being able to stop the DCADS popups but I would honestly attach your logs for the malware experts to review as malware these days comes in packs and you dont always just have one infection. IF they find nothing more they will not have you deleting anything if not needed.

as for JAVA its always best to update to the latest version as newer versions close any security issues previous versions had, so running old versions is classed as a security risk.
