Ok I hope this is the right spot to post this. I have a friend who's having a big problem all of a sudden. He's got XP home on his PC he went to open his internet explorer and he got an error message then it closed on him. It's an error message about mscrvt.dll. He can't open Yahoo either but, his MSN gives him no trouble. The problem comes and goes from day to day even. Fine 1 day bad 2 days later. I sent him here to Majorgeeks to download a fix for his registry but ubable to download he clicks and gets nothing. Also he had tried a system restore but that didn't work either. He's not very computer literate but he did confimation that the .dll file is the problem.

Any ideas? He's in another state so I can't see what he does. :confused

He's running IE8. I believe he had recently upgraded to that but , will find out for sure.

Problem solved!! Made a copy of a friends XP Pro and sending it to my friend in need. Working long hours and not being computer wise this is hopefully his best chance......a fresh install of XP. Thanks everyone
