A good company to work for as a computer hardware tech?

    Can anyone suggest a good company to work for as a computer hardware technician, and point me in the right direction to where to find the job-add/information? Salary/rate of pay ect.

    If I wanted to work in this particular niche, I would go to either a big-box tech shop (FutureShop, Best Buy, etc.), or I would start a business of my own.

    Salary is more dictated by where you live than what you do. Sure, there are industry ballparks, but hourly rates can range over a huge range. Being in Chicago you'll probably have one of the higher rates to start based purely on cost of living.

    As for being a hardware tech, that's a wide open range of duties as well. Are you looking to design, build, repair...what?
