Who's gonna win the post season prizes in baseball?

We've had the gold gloves (and the silver sluggers??)

post your bets for the MVPs and the Cy Youngs

Now this is a good thread!! :D

    Carlos Beltran MVP NL
    Ichiro MVP AL

Tony LaRussa for Manager of the Year NL
What's his face from the Rangers for Manager of the Year AL

I wish Curt Schilling would get the AL Cy Young, but I think Santana will get it.
I'm not sure about the NL Randy Johnson again?

LOL. I have no interest and no clue about baseball stats or stars, but it's nice to see something non-political. Carry on gentlemen. :)

I'd love to see Johnson get the Cy Young. 16 wins and an E.R.A. under 3 for a team that loses 111 games? What a performance. Oh, and a perfect game too.

I think Schilling is my fave for the AL title too.

Oh, how could I forget the perfect game? I'm sure he'll get it.

Gary, you should get into baseball, it's the thinking man's sport, and you'd like it.

Yeah G.T. I would have figured you for a baseball fan for sure.

    What is your sports passion?

So why are you having such a rough week Pewt?

Personality conflicts. When you work with people who are the same classification as you and the nearest supervisor is thirty miles away, it's normally a good thing. But sometimes, without an arbitrator, things can get out of hand.

    We'll see on Monday.

Yep, things can be tough that way. I hope it all works out, and that you can all be on the same team tonight.

Back to baseball: Ichiro and Boonie got Gold Gloves! :)

Yeah, so did Vernon Wells. The only Blue Jay.

I wonder where Delgado will be next year. For some reason he likes Baltimore.

    Uh, chess? :D

Seriously, I don't really have any sports "passion". I've always preferred various motorsports to any of the ball-games. I used to follow CART closely, but after they split off the IRL and drivers/teams went everywhich way, I quit following it so intensely. I've always loved motorcycle roadracing, but there's so little of it on broadcast TV that I've never been able to see much of it. The only motorsport I can get consistently here is NASCAR, which I've never loved; too much depends on willingness of other drivers to help you, too much the good-old-boy's club. I don't love any sports enough to pay about 50 bucks a month for cable TV, so I'm culturally deprived where sports are concerned. ;)

I know you'll disagree, but I wish Seattle would get Delgado. I think they are considering him.

    I wouldn't mind Seattle. ABTY!!!

I think you would like Cricket. I can remember watching test matches, from 11:00 am to 6:30 pm, for five days, and loving every minute of it. They stop for lunch! It's so damn civilized. :)

Now, what are the basic rules of Cricket? I know nothing about it.

Beltran! Awesome player, humble man. I love this guy:)

I didn't know you liked baseball! You're so cool, LLC! :)

    Aw thanks Eric:)

    But yeah! I love sports!

I recently got into baseball...my friend loves it and kinda influenced me ;) It's a nice sport; takes a lot of coordination to hit that tiny ball flying at you at 97mph! Some people think it's boring, but I honestly don't think so. Once you know the rules, and what's going on, it's really interesting.

    Gooo Astros! :p

    LOL.

There are no basic rules in Cricket. They're all very complicated.

What? What about Lovable Lou, and the Devil Rays? If Baldelli gets healthy, and Aubry keeps hitting like he has, and they get some good pitching....I'm a Piniella fan, so I'll be rootin for the Rays! :)

I'll google a link, and read up on it then. All I know is, you bounce the ball at the batter (or whatever he's called in Cricket) and he can hit it anywhere in a 360 degree area. Then somebody runs from one base to another, and back again. Or something like that.

  22. LadyLaraCroft

    LadyLaraCroft elfette

Cool! I'll root for 'em too :)

Sorry Eric, I thought you were having me on!

    Not bases, wickets.

the whole team goes up in one inning. Each game consists of two innings, if there's time.

Six balls(pitches) from one end of the pitch, then six from the other. Two batsmen in at one time. Score up to six runs on a single hit.

The only thing you really need to know is this. If you are ever invited to play, don't let them put you at silly mid off. Or on.

LOL! No, I've never even seen a game played. Have friends here from South Africa and Australia that would talk Cricket a bit. I've always heard it was slow, but then again, people say that about baseball too.

Thanks for the link, I'll check it out.

gotta go to bed. UP early tomorrow to work a long day in the kitchen doing my weekend rotation. See ya, it's been really nice chatting. :)

    cindysnoopy Shotgun!

Why thank you! Sorry that I missed you. It's been far too long...

Did a little baseball talk myself tonight. I'm going to miss Larry Bowa managing the Phillies, but I guess we'll see what Charlie Manuel can do. :)
