There's roof shingles blowing off the adjoined apartment building.

I didn't realize Bill had made it up that far North.

    Good luck and stay safe.

I'm glad the only effects we get from hurricanes are the leftovers in the form of a rain storm.

Now there's leaves and a few branches flying all over the place.

Aimee stay away from windows and doors I'm sure you know this but you will be tempted to check out the sounds from the storm. And the train whistle that I hope you don't here is a tornado. Trust me you will here it and feel it. If your power goes out start shutting down things starting with the Ac as when it is powered back up by the electric company there could be a big surge which could cause some major damage. But mostly get in a safe spot.During Andrew I and my 2 children and 3 cats huddled in the closet in a 1 bedroom apartment. I heard and felt that train. The scary part is we didn't have a train track with in 30 miles of where I lived.Keep us posted please.

Uncle called to say a tree went down on the other side of town and the power's out over there.

The power went out for a few seconds but came back on. I don't hear a train whistle.

    I'm not scared.

That's good that you're not scared, but just be very aware of what is going on around you inside and out.If you have a camera maybe you can take some pics and download them so everyone can see how bad it is right now. Just a thought. Hopefully it goes by quickly.Andrew came through in the wee hours of the morning. I was up the whole time worried for my children's safety.

Hopefully Bill will leave your area soon - stay safe!

@bigtrucks: You were in Andrew? Whoa - I still remember watching all the destruction on TV. I can't imagine what it was like to actually be there.

yeah. not pretty at all. Actually I was in the outer skirts but still felt like the other 3 or 4 that I was in before (don't keep count anymoreLOL)Did a lot of running back and forth from Davie(just south of Ft. Lauderdale) to Miami helping people out. Between taking Ice and water and doing their laundry my new/ used SUV blow a head gasket and I had to hitch rides with Feed the children and helped that way until my brother-in-law fixed my truck. It was so sad to see all the people with out and knowing that you can't always help Everyone in one day.

Our power went out. I took an ibuprofen to keep calm (and plus that darn wisdom tooth was bothering me again). I watched a few Petty DVDs on my portable DVD player until the batteries ran out. When it got dark me and mom were looking for flashlight batteries, and I said, "Wouldn't it be funny if the power came back on right now?" which it then did.

There's trees down all over town. The weird neighbors across the street put their clothes out on the line and they blew into a tree.

I'm glad that you and your mom faired the storm ok. Sorry to here about your wisdom tooth. They are far from being "Wise":-D Had the same thing when I was about in my 30's my children as well.
Oh isn't that just funny. I just hate when that happens. Our power has been going off and on with these afternoon storms we've been having and just when I go looking for the battery operated pump for my fish the lights pop back on. GRRRR!
Well at least they weren't off very long.
OMG:-D who in their right mind hangs clothes when there's a hurricane coming right for you? That'll teach them to hang when Bill's in town.roflmao

I dont live too far from NS, i'm just across the Bay of Fundy in New Brunswick, and here, all we got was clouds, sunny breaks and warm balmy air.... Halifax NS is only a few hours (approx 4) drive from my home, the difference the bay of fundy makes is amazing.

I feel for those in NS that got hammered by bill...

Well Aimee, glad to see you weathered the storm! Just be thankful Bill didn't hit you full force. After all, we just got you back and we sure didn't want to lose you again!;) I think the worst I've been through was Katrina. We're about 200 miles inland and only felt her outer bands, but we still lost power for 5 days and a section of our fence was blown over. Still, we suffered nothing compared to the Gulf Coast and New Orleans! Hurricanes I can live with, for the most part, it's tornadoes that I fear the most and we have our share of them.

As for Florida, it seems that when a storm forms in the Atlantic, or the Gulf of Mexico, they almost always head straight for Florida. Those people down there always 'under the gun' during hurricane season!
