A question about Photo Shop

Could somebody with extensive photo shop knowledge please explain what "Image has been compressed to JPEG twice" mean?Thanks!!

I've never seen that as a message in Photoshop, but I looked around to see where that phrase came from. I found a discussion about a unique picture. Several people wanted to know the photographer and they tried tracking them through Flicker and other places.
Someone sent the picture to pskiller.com and was given this info:

Further along in the discussion, the picture is definitely identified as a photchop.
So just from the way it was used and what they found later, I believe it is statement meaning that something could be photochopped (manipulated) but doesn't necessarily mean a fake.
I know most any chop can be identified and chops are usually jpeg's, taken off the internet (compressed once) then compiled into a new image, and saved as jpeg again. (PS keeps it is a PSD, until it is saved) That image will get compressed again to upload back to the 'net.

But I have twice compressed images of my own, from losing them on my PC, retrieving them from the 'net, re-editing and re-uploading.
To make a long story short, it is a term, used to help identify fake photos.

I have a friend who thinks a certain photo he found on the net is fake and I'm trying to prove it otherwise but my knowledge of photo shop is nil. So thanks again as we have a ice cream sundae riding on this.:-D
