A question or two about vista...

I have a couple of questions. I've tested a few to try to find answers myself, but it can become pretty time consuming and didn't want to waste that time if I could get the answer by simply asking.

First, automatic tasks that windows performs. Will it perform them if the computer is in sleep mode? Things like auto update and automatically creating restore points every 24 hours. I want it to do this automatically, but I'd like to know if I need to turn off sleep mode for it to do so.

Second, what about other programs? For example, if I have my Trend Micro set to scan at a certain time, but it's in sleep mode at that time, it will not scan. Is there any way to set it so that it automatically wakes up when a program has been schedueled to run?

Also, I have a couple of question about locking. I noticed that if I have the computer set to lock when the screen saver comes on, it doesn't actually lock the second the screen saver comes on, but locks a few seconds after. That's not that big of a deal, but I was just wondering if that's the way it is supposed to be. Then, if I lock the computer, but do NOT have the checkbox checked for displaying the login screen after the screen saver comes on, will it or will it not be locked the I come out of the screen saver? Also, I noticed that if I DO have it set to have to log back in when the screen saver comes on, THEN it goes into sleep mode, when it wakes, it is unlocked, so, I have to make sure that both the screen saver AND sleep mode are set to require a password after waking. It's gets kind of confusing when you're trying to list all possible scenarios and make sure that every situation is password protected and there aren't any time gaps or anything.
